Does your Maggie EVAP hose look like this and does it bother you?

Look at the attached photos. Note the hose that goes from the EVAP solenoid to the Magnacharger. Is it just me, or do you also have a problem with the way the hose is routed over the jack shaft. It's not touching the rotating shaft, but it's really close...too close.

Just doesn't look right, and to me, it detracts from the appearance of the installation. It actually looks worse first hand, more than the photos show. I have had several people point it out and ask "What's up with that?" When my wife commented on it, at that moment I knew it wasn't right. She's not dumb (a lawyer), but she doesn't know a supercharger from a battery charger and she spotted it.

The hose barb on the body of the Maggie should have been a 90* fitting and pointed down to route the hose under the jack shaft. I called Magnasun and they told me that the hose barb was pressed in the casting. I have a machine tool background and I know that if it's pressed in the casting with a shrink fit, removing it will "bugger up" the hole...so I ain't trying that.

One way or another, I will come up with a solution and get that hose rerouted....if you're interested, stay tuned.

Alfie

What if you used a 90* boot and male/male fitting to re-route it? You'd have some seams, but it might look better than it does right now...

...although it doesn't really bug me. But I don't have to live with it.

I never understood why Magnacharger routes that hose as shown, over and so close to the transfer shaft. Looks very amaturish. Most of the installs that are done at ADM Perf use a 90 degree elbow routing the hose down. Looks better and eliminates any rub on shaft.

It used to! But for 20.00 in parts from Kragen I re-routed it under. As well as the pcv line to the intake tube. The parts are 2 packages of 90 deg elbows and 2 packages of 6" of hard line with a 90 at one end and a straight at the other. A little creative cutting and voila! You can see it somewhat here and if you want better pics let me know...

Thanks, but I tried that...it comes out too far and rubs the jack shaft...that hose nipple is pretty long.

I think I have a solution and I'm working on it tonight.

If you look closely at the photos (heater hoses), you can see that I have that hose relocation kit, but the kit doesn't replace/relocate this particular hose.

The hose relocation kit is actually by TechAfx, a Michigan company and they distribute it to ADM and the other performance houses.

Just trim about 3/8" off the elbow at the nipple end. I used a hard line/elbow part I found at Kragen to run straight down, then when I connected the line from the car, I re-routed it a bit and left it about a 1/2" long so it has a little "push" to it and between that and the shortened elbow it clears perfectly. Let me know if you need pics...

Yeah, I know. I met them at C5Fest. I actually had issues with 1 of my heater hoses that leaked. Andy at ADM Performance says the stock clamps that come with the TechAFX Hose assemblies are too large in diameter and did not clamp down tight enough. He put some other clamps on them and I haven't had any issues. You might want to look at yours.. It is the connection from the Long Pipe to the rubber hose close to the firewall.. I gave the TechAFX guys the old clamps and told them what the issue was and I don't know if they fixed the issue on their end or not...

Thanks for the heads up on the hose clamps. I will check mine. I got mine recently and hopefully they got their clamp size problem fixed and I won't have the problem that you had.

I have a "fix" to my original post and will post pics later.
