3.6 into thirdgen

Hi, im IROC-stangs from tgo, anyhow someone has brought up the topic of swapping the 3.6 from a 2010 camaro into a thirdgen. And i want to here some thoughts on doing this as the swap seems intresting and FUN! im going copy/paste my post from tgo.

2010 camaro v6
weight - 3750
0-60 - 6.0 secs
1/4 mile - 14.2
redline - 7k
horsepower - 312
torque - 273
transmission - 6 speed stick
brakes - 12.6 (F) 12.4 (R)
MPG - 29

Would your best bet be finding a camaro at the JY? considering i would imagine you would be able to use the engine, brakes, tranny, and rear end? would the swap be pretty identical to doing a ls1 swap but it just being a v6 and diffrent mounts? What about guages? also would like to here what people think the cost of this would be.

and low 13's should be possible since supposely, 100lbs reduction is good for .10 in the quarter and if the thirdgen weight is going be around 3k then thats about 8 secs off the quarter mile time. What do you think the top speed would be with the speed limiter removed (assuming there is one). Is 35mpg resonable considering weight diffrence as long as you keep your foot out of it?

And how much would the basic mods (exhuast/cold air) help with the numbers, Thanks.

Actually, horsepower is 312, not 304 for both 2010 and 2011 model year. SAE certified.

will correct power output, thanks. well i was thinking that you could use the 6spd (man or auto) for the swap, if not what would work. what do you think would be a optimal rear end gear? something like 3.42's? thanks

Can it be done???

Come on pro builders, what will/would you do. I'm interested in this also.

I have a 92 Heritage 3.1, manual 6 and over 150,000 miles.

Ok, what's in the list with the 3.6, an upgraded clutch/ tranny/ rear end and all the necessary support parts.

What's the procedure and approx cost?

This isnt going to be cheap... i would think people would opt for the LS1 swap.. more power, cheaper, and been done 5 billion times...

i understand that this would be pretty freaking cool though if you have money to throw around and you have an awesome dream...

ill subscribe to this thread, id like to see where it goes!

I dont understand how the swap could be TO expensive if you can find a donor car, i mean, were talking about a v6 here (yes i know about the DI and all the motors fancy features) and if you can find a donor car you can get the tranny and everything you want and probaly most of what you need out of it.

I'm not nearly smart enough to know what all would need to be done to make this a reality, but I think most would agree that this engine and transmission in a 3rd gen would SCOOT!

IF i had a bit of money to blow, i could find a wrecked 2010 v6 maro, and a clean sport coupe camaro I would be in the process of it right now. It seems like it would be a simple drop in, just with lots of wiring!

true, but does it have the same tranny/rear end/brakes? If so then that could be another way to go. Btw will the rear end from a 5th gen work since its not actually a f-body?

Not sure about the rear end/brakes, but it has the same Aisin 6-speed. Not sure about the auto trans either...

oh ok, thanks though. if it does have atleast the same rear end i'll have to keep a eye the cts's if i ever go thru with this, i would bet its cheaper for a complete donor car other then just the engine.
