V6 whining noise.

I have noticed lately that my engine makes a pulsing whining noise. I describe it this way cause although its constant it makes the noise for maybe 2 seconds then stops for 2, then it comes back for 2 seconds and stops for 2. Over and over. Also the noise is a little higher pitched right before it goes away then when it starts.
I could probably get an audio clip of it but I have no idea how to post said clip. The only add on I have is an airaid. I read a post somewhere were someone said that they had to get their alternator replaced, not sure if mine is the same issue. I don't know how better to describe it, but if anyone can help me, I know a camaro5'r can.

Is it coming from your radio when the A/C is turned on? I saw a thread about that earlier somewhere.

no ac and radio are both off. I dont notice it as much when I first start the car but when I reach my destination and get ready to turn off the car its noticeable.

Did you notice the noise before you added the CAI? Also, there was a TSB for a noise coming from behind the glove box. Does your noise sound like it is coming from the engine bay or somewhere else?

Its been a while since I installed the airaid, so I cant remember if it did it before or not. And its from the engine bay. When I get home from work tomorrow I will pop the hood while its running and try to narrow it down.

CAI's will cause "whine". If the whine goes away when you let off the gas pedal, it's the CAI.

A CAI has more of a suction sound than a whine. the sound you get when u first turn on a vaccum (the old bag kind anyway)

well the sound clip i recorded sounded like trash, so that wont help. The funny thing is that i hear it more sitting in the car than when I have the hood up and am looking at the engine. Maybe im just crazy. Still gotta get the ac looked at to.
