Last Date For Order Changes

Sorry, I know the last thing this site needs is a new thread....but....in this ordering thread http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...783#post197783 Teamlynn1 stated, "Everyone has PRE_ORDERS right now. on Dec 2nd they will be accepted for production" and also, "this was the date given to me by Chevrolet, I have heard nothing to the contrary so have your orders locked down by 12/2."

In another thread http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...er+change+date there is what appears to be more speculation and opinion, not hard fact.

Please, we need credible word on that Dec.2nd date being the point of no return for changes....seems way too early to me with production not begining for 11 or 12 weeks, but if this is fact, then we all have only 7 days to get all our changes submitted.

I've heard 2 different dates, the 2nd and the 16th. It's better to be safe then sorry so I'm making my changes based on the closest date (the 2nd) being the correct one.

my dealer said changes can be made up until the point where the order is taken into the system and given a VIN number. So basically everyone's is going to be different. My guess is the earliest your order could be drawn would be December, but not until 2009 is the most likely.

edit and your dealer will be told when your order is going to be taken and he then has 3/4 days to change it or just let it go into the system. Its the Thursday-Sunday time thing going on. I ask my dealer to contact before its made official just so I have the chance to change it

Note to Admins: Is 12/2 the date?? Is this official??

Note to GM: If so and no Long stripe accessory announcement as of that date - my order will be stopped by the dealer. Sad, but the fact is - that right behind the podium at INDY where Chevrolet officials spoke I was shown product promotion materials clearly showing the long rally stripe -based upon that I decided to place my order.

Chevrolet I Need to know how to proceed with the potential purchase of a $40,000 dollar car.

I will not reward betrayal with my money.

Scott has already said the rally stripe won't pass over the hood. However it will be easy to find stripes that do and the cost might be about the same..

Christ man do you need to beat this horse any more

4 inches of stripes = GM conspiracy. Ok we get it, go cancel your order they are not going to give you longer stripes.

The official word from John Fitzpatrick is to talk with your dealer and tell them that they are to call you before they submit the order to GM. YOUR DEALER HAS to actually submit it (its not automatic) AND every dealer is on a rollout schedule so the dates that they CAN submit are dependent upon where your dealer is on that schedule.

Excellent! Thanks much, diarmadhi, and everyone who replied to this thread to help!! Official enough for me....guess I'd better get on the horn to my dealer.

I am priority #2 at my dealer which means mine will be the 2nd Camaro ordered at that dealer (assuming GM lets them order what I want). My dealer told me that he will call me when they order the first one. This will let me know my order will be coming up. Even if GM was to tell him that he has to order the 2nd one with a different configuration that my pre-order calls for he said he would still call me and let me know the situation. This would allow me to accept the changes or move down to #3. He said he expects to order my car officially in December or January.

If your order is in the main system, the order is pulled automaticly. Orders are pulled once a week to the GM mainframes, I believe early AM Thurday, at least my dealers are.
If you are expecting a call before the order is placed, I suspect it is not entered as a sold order OR if so may be on hold.
Just because you put an order in workbench and got a printout doesn't mean your order is actualy placed.

I know this because I sat down with the one person at my dealer that places all the orders.
If you are concerned, go to your dealer and ask to see the person that places the orders. Ask them to show you the order on his system and inquire as to how the system works, I sat with this person for an hour and was surprised at how it works.

This from my own experience, your dealer may be different.

The person who told me they would call me before they officially placed the order for my car was the manager at my dealership and not the salesman. Still I think I will give them a call next week to see how things are going. The only change I plan to make to my pre-order anyway is the addition of the body colored engine cover. I think that would be a nice addition even though my exterior coler is black.

JohnnyCamaro said the dealer can just put a note with the order to request whatever color you want. Or they can call up the factory to ensure that they put in the orange one instead.
