Yes they are. I am very sure itll happen!

I am sure you can add maybe 2 psi with out swaping any tuning.. GM will expect hot roders to swap pullys... so 620 with nothing but a pully swap...

I was able to add 3psi to my GTP before it needed a tune... I did have to put in a high flow cat though.. it did not like the extra boost with the restricted exhaust.
I added headers w/ out cats and CAI to my CTS-V and it put down 540hp to the wheels and the boost dropped to 6.5psi. I am going with a larger heat exchanger, ID850's, 9.17 lower & 2.55 upper to gain back about 6-8 psi of boost. We will see what it comes out to after LPE gets done with it in March. I should get close to that 650 mark.

There are multiple 5.4's running over the 4 digit mark on stock bottom ends. There are a bunch of 700+ rwhp stock longblock 5.4s running around. For every ls3 pushing 600+ whp, there is a 5.4 pushing 800+. The 5.4(now 5.8) has a fully forged reciprocating assembly in a DOHC v8 either iron block for pre-11 or plasma-wire arc enforced aluminum for 11+. You are simply not going to have the same horsepower limits on a slightly larger than 5.8l displacement engine with a more restrictive 2v head design and weaker hypereutectic cast pistons unless there is a massive design flaw in the former's design. The fact the 5.8 is also packing a bigger blower means it's bolt on output is going to pack more of a punch.

The 5.8 takes advantage of more displacement than the 5.4, a reinforced head design, a bit higher compression (9.0:1), Ford GT camshafts, revised valvetrain for 7k rpm redline, oil squirters, and continues to pack forged rods and pistons. By all accounts it should be stronger than the 5.4. Packing a bigger blower is just the icing on the cake. The only engine in GM's arsenal that matches it is the LS9. An LS3 or LSA can definitely be modified to overcome the advantages the 5.4/5.8 has, but stock for stock and mod for mod in this scenario the gt500 motor is simply stronger.

Whether the package the engine comes with is going to be good enough to match or defeat zl1 is yet to be seen. However when comparing engines alone, the LS3 isn't in the same league as the 5.4 and the 5.8 is likely to handle quite a bit more abuse than the LSA at any power level. The LSA is a beast though and I think most people will be plenty satisfied.

There is a video out there on youtube of a 4 door CTS-V with a upper/ lower supercharger pulley, 125 shot of nitrous and the car flat out moves, beating supercharged Vette's and Vipers. Problem is the owner knows that he is on borrowed time and already has started saving for a built engine, but that's only gonna lead to other broken parts.... but care's when you have the bank roll to afford a modded CTS-V.

Definitely worth watching to see the awesome potential of a boosted and sprayed LSA.

I'd love to post a link to the vid but dont want to risk getting my account suspended so just google it.

so comming out with 15 psi who cares.. 6.2 liter at 15 psi vs 5.8 leter at 15 psi = 5.8 fail.... I am sure that the ZL1 can be boosted at least 4 more PSI.. 1 PSI equates to about 20 whp..
I'm now just thinking about waiting to see what the new gen 2015 GT500 will be, hopefully with IRS, Ti-VCT, DI, e85 before I get a archaic 13-14.

Problem with this is, that it's a 99-01 cobra in the video, not an 03+ cobra that came factory blown and had all forged internals with lower compression. When you throw crazy boost at a high compression NA motor rods pop.

Man can we all agree on one thing. We will see both cars at a track some where and will see a great match up. One has a bigger blower one has a bigger motor. Wow that both equal out. And we don't know anything till they are both out. Its all in thought and paper and a dynorun right now. So can we all get along and stay sane about the issue. Just because its running 15 psi. Don't mean much. I'm sure Chevy has something else planned in the works.

Yeah, can't wait for a magazine to put both of them on a strip and a track. One vs One and shut all the fanbois up.

Agreed. And more HP isn't it.

The rest of the fleet will have to get 70 mpg if this keeps up.
