It's too bad they didn't do it in the opposite order, the way the 1st gen's had it: SS = big motor, Z = fast + handling with a high rev motor of moderate HP/Torque.
I say they should have put the LS3 in the Z and the Caddy motor in the SS. Drop some weight out of the Z . . . plastic front fenders, scoot the engine back 3" . . . whatever. Get it lighter and balanced. Eh, whatever. Most non-Camaro-nut folks don't even know that it was "only" the 302 in all 60's Z's . . . so I guess it doesn't really matter which was it rolls anyway. Still, cool news. |

Agree with that remark. If the GM made the Z/28 ligt on its feet with CTS-V suspension tech then we have a beast.

It will be truly disappointing if the Z/28 has a more powerful plant than the SS. And the hood scoop looks a little much... Cowl induction is the best, IMHO

I think that a high horse powered camaro has got to effect base corvette sales in a negitive way. GM should just keep uping the SS's HP a little each year and make the Z28 a handling package. The corvette buyers would stay happy and the camaro buyers would be happy. A 450 HP SS camaro for 2011 would be nothing to sneeze at.

Well...if memory serves, Wm Holden was at an event with Ed Welburn present...and he reported to the forum soon after that Ed said in no uncertain terms that the Z28 is dead and not happening...thus followed a flame war...if memory serves...
Right Holden? |

A few months back he was asked about that Z/28, and got like all grandpa-ish swiping a grandkid's hand aways from the cookie jar, saying that's it is imposible to get a supercharged Camaro at this point in time.

You don't suppose that a Z28 what performs slightly better than a base Vette for a mildly lower price wouldn't entice a few buyers to "switch sides"? |
