IT's called reliability. GM wants your cars to last as long as possible. LPE and tuners want your cars to perform consistently but don't expect them to last 150k miles.

So race gas, race tires, tune, pulley, intake, ported, thermostat oh and the warranty is now gone. Still can't break 10second though, still pretty disappointing. Think what the ZL1 is showing is that the SS is a great value, slap 30k worth of mods (price difference between the 2) in an SS and you got something putting out 9s/ high 8s. Though that magnetic ride is quite nice and maybe the aerodynamics aren't BS, though is it really worth 30k to have the zl1 as a starting point to mod rather than the SS.

I like what I see. 10s should be easy with that mph. Are the 60' ft's limited by the tire or testing? As well will a 17inch rim fit on the back with a slick and can you hit the car any harder? I may have missed it manual or auto?
If you dont mind me asking did you get any air temp data? Sorry for all the questions more interested in data than the actual run, but the run is nice and shows that once time is given the zl1 will be able to kill at the strip and the road course with out affecting each other. |

Baseline time would have been nice.

If you only care about going in a straight line (which sounds like that's all you do). then modify your SS swap out the rear for a SRA and go to town. A new car is out and they are scratching the surface. On a good day with a good track that car would have seen 10's easy. |

As well so many people keep pointing out that their ss will keep up for less, thats great but would it be able to keep up on the road course as well. Normally everything is a compromise from one to the other. the ZL1 is starting to show that it will be able to hang pretty good at both tracks with a little work and not upsetting the cars suspension or much of anything else.
Also people talk about the warranty, everything I have seen on this car can be switched back to stock pretty easy unless GM is actually watching how many times the tune is changed. I had heard rumors of this but never got anything solid on it. |

Launch was a little tricky to maintain consistently, da. Was 1800 ft temp mid 60s iat 2 at the end of the run was 160 f Better tires will help greatly, car transfers pretty well, overall we'repretty pleased, but not satisfied |

11:00s @ 130-mph with nothing more than a Cold Air Kit, Smaller SC Pulley, Tune, Tires, and some race fuel . The mph should be good for 10:70s.

Now i feel MUCH better, after having spent the better part of the morning reading about the disappointing times Hennessy put up on a stock ZL1 at the track.

Mr. Behan,
the 160 IAT2 seems like it is up there. cant to the math right now but Im sure that there are easy ways to get it down. How big is the reservoir on the zl1 for the intercooler. Im sure you guys are already thinking about that kind of stuff. Just looking at the DA and a decent track at sea level and you would be right around 10.8 or better. Add in pulling a 1.5 60 10.7ish and drop the IAT2 down and you are adding even more hp to the equation. That looks pretty good to me. Im sure the tune is under lock down but do you feel you guys are being aggressive with the timing or just running the fuel to be safe? thanks for answering my questions, unfortunately I have to wait till my13 before I can start to look at all the data on my own. |
