Let's see: 2 door coupe, V8 engine, 400+ horsepower, six-speed transmission, born of SS/Z28 heritage... I think it qualifies as a muscle car!

Don't get me wrong.. I know they in the same class. I just don't like Pony car because name originated because of the Mustang. (Mustang = Pony)

That's the only reason it's called a pony car. 1st gen's were released to directly compete with the Mustang..... Hence the "Pony" cars

Good thing the Cougar didn't come out first, or they'd be calling them... "Kitty" cars!

Muscle car must have a lot of HP and 4 seats. No matter how small, like the Camaro and Mustangs.

Sports cars are two seaters with a lot of HP.

PS. Not sure the original poster has a Camaro....avatar says drives....ummmm....an Altima???? That's a coupe, but not sporty. Let's see the Camaro pic already since this is a Camaro site....

If this is a LT/RS Camaro you got a six banger and you don't have a muscle car.....I agree with you. An SS or SS/RS, with 400HP for the automatic and 426Hp for the M6 does qualify for a muscle car.

Quit fishing for postings!

I agree how the Camaro is a pony car, but I do not think that it is not a muscle car.

A pony car is a specific kind of muscle car. It is smaller and geared towards the youth, but that does not mean that it is not a muscle car.

Come on, the Barracuda came with a 426 hemi. Is that not one of the best engines of the muscle car era? How is that not a muscle car?
