Ok so... the Automatic has a manual gear..?

Hey there every one.. i figured i would finally introduce myself in a post.. I'm David AKA Taintedveins a senior in highschool .. and I drive a 2011 LS.
SO let me just get down to my questioning.. and find something that might help me out a bit.
The other day i tested out the manual gear with in the automatic and noticed there was a distinct sound difference after its use. it sounded as if there was more power. Now i would want to use that gear more often but it seems too simple for its use..

So has any one else used this gear and do you notice any differences?

It is in Sport mode, holds shifts longer, more aggressive.

Read your manual.

I don't think he is saying you don't have a car, but rather that there is no different gear

as said before, car is just more aggressive holding gears longer

If you shift it to "M" and dont shift yourself via the pushbuttons on the steeringwheel then it stays in sports mode and shifts aggresively on its own. Otherwise, you manually shift through at your pleasure with the tapshift buttons......hope this answers your question?

No prob....yeah, as soon as you shift up or down with the tapshift the "S" will change to an "M" and whatever gear you're in on the DIC (i.e. M3, M4, etc.)

Sports mode is fun!! Try it out on an open road sometime....or if you just want to get a feel for what it's like drop it down before you pass someone
And, yes, that means you can shift in and out of it while driving.

Yes, you can move it from D to S... and from S to D... and S to Mx and Mx to D with no issue... it's all computer controlled and the car won't let you do anything really bad... like trying to down shift when you are already at a high RPM... the DIC will simply display SHIFT DENIED... LOL
