Drive easy on those RS/SS tires

This alone may make me give up halos on my 2LT

Ouch

But the tire description might make you feel a little better?

P Zero tires are Max Performance Summer tires derived from 100 years of Pirelli motorsport experience and developed for the drivers of powerful sports cars, sports coupes and high performance luxury sedans. Initially introduced as Original Equipment on the Aston Martin DB9, Audi R8, Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, Lamborghini Murcielago, Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT and Mercedes-Benz AMG vehicles, the P Zero lineup also includes select replacement tire sizes. The P Zero, like all summer tires, is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

There are many other prior threads on tires. If it makes you feel better, there are a lot of alternatives that are much cheaper and still have great ratings.

At Discount Tire they have some other Yoko's that are V rated (up to 149 mph), but a lot cheaper.

When it comes to replacing those badboys...I'm gonna go cheap! I don't need Z-Rated tires. I haven't gotten past 100mph since I got married...that was in '07...

Why are the front tires more expensive than the rear?

Z rating is pretty much useless on 95% of the cars out there.

Larger (20") diameter wheels are becoming more and more common place on production vehicles. As that happens, there will be more tire options available.

Here's a deal on 245/45 R 20 & 275/45 R 20 all-season Yokohama Parada Spec-x radials at tirerack.com,$129-$139.00 each. The reviews on these tires is really good! The fact that replacing the Pirelli's at $380-$425 a piece scares the out of me,I may just buy a whole set to replace the Pirelli's then sell them to all the SS Camaro guys(at a discount)Heck,I could buy 2 sets of Yokohama's for the price of 1 set of Pirelli'sBTW the Yoko's are rated at 440 tread ware rating...Sweet!I could buy almost 3 sets(4)Since my 1LT/RS Camaro will be a DD and see winter snow,I think this will be my choice for replacement tires.

IMO P-zero was not a good tire for me. It's a no brainer these will suck in the snow. And when it rained it felt like I was driving on snow. Plus they grabbed all the grooves in the road and made it want to wander all over the lane. I had a larger tire than stock Camaros have too. So they may not wander as bad. Much better tires out there that can be had for less money.

As far as the z rating. They also have a stiffer sidewall for better cornering. If you don't road race a lot it, you probably would not notice the difference with a lesser rating. Plus speed ratings are for sustained speeds. A quick jaunt up to say 150 won't hurt the tires. And who in there right mind would be going that fast for any length of time. Stuff can happen real quick and you are done.

or you could be running your car on a track quite often and want to have as many options as possible to make it safe at that speed ...

Good idea. Thanks for the info on the tires. I've been thinking ahead and looking for tires so I don't have to make a spur of the moment decision when I need them..

I saw tires I like better.... Anyone near Greencastle PA want to buy my Pirellis when the car come in?
