Buring Oil

I would like to discuss the thick blue smoke and the 3 quarts of oil I had to add to my SS. I have driven just over 3,000 miles in 4 weeks. Is anyone else experiencing this with their Camaro? Have you lost that much oil? I have not pushed the car just driving normal highway speeds. I have accelerated quickly at times and that is when I notice the cloud of smoke. Is this a feature (disappearing in a cloud of smoke)? Also check out this link http://www.carseverything.com/256/20...o-recalls.html for a battery cable recall. -Bosch

Have you visited the dealership to discuss this problem with your dealer? Sounds like a possible oil control ring problem or worse. Also the battery cable issue was posted on here weeks ago and has been addressed by many already. If yours qualifies for it, you should take it there.

Are you trolling???? Who in their right mind would add 3 qts of oil in a brand new car and not be at the dealership long before now.

Sounds like bad head valve seals or gasket.

Check with On-Star bro. Ask for a diagnostic on the car. It's included free. Press the On-Star button on your mirror, wait for an operator and ask for a complete system diagnostic. If there was an issue, I'm sure they'd find something. Especially something as severe as this.

if your on here asking if this right on new car, makes me wonder about other things. Burning some oil during break in is normal a quart or so, but nothing more.

yup, there is talk of this on the gm tech forum,, seems some cars smoke like a fog machine,, some valve cover / breather issues and some have over aggressive lifters that pump too much oil to the top of the engine.

also many of the afm/dod LSx trucks are reporting lots of oil usage.

If my brand new car was pouring out smoke, I wouldn't go to a forum and discuss it, I'd have my happy self to the dealer getting it fixed because even I know that ain't right!

This also could happen if a car was say redlined or over red before break-in. Not saying he did that just that could happen.
