Hyundai Vs HHR.. Hyundai Loses

Had a little accident taking Sandra to work this morning. We are both fine, we were on State of Franklin Rd. in front of the ETSU Minidome, and it was nothing but solid Ice, the traffic in front of us slowed abruptly because of an accident ahead, and I had to make a quick decision either to try to stop on the road and risk rear ending the car in front of me or jump the curb.. I decided to jump the curb, and I got stopped just in time, unfortunately the guy in the Hyundai behind me tried to jump the curb too but he didn't get stopped and he plowed into the HHR and the rolled back into the road. When I got out and started back and saw the front of his car I just knew the rear of the HHR was toast.. but I really had to look it over before I noticed the damage...

The guy at the body shop where I got an estimate ($518) said the HHR has one of the toughest rear bumpers they have ever seen. If a Toyota or Honda got hit like that it would have torn it completely off and done consiterable damage to the rear.

Here are a couple pictures of the damage to his Hyundai and to our HHR.
It didn't even bust the reflector in my rear bumper...

That's remarkable! I'm sorry to see that you got hit at all, but this demonstrates the build quality of the HHR.

Why does your HHR have an SS emblem on it?

and a lot of other mechanicals, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it a cobalt wagon

That is really amazing!

I have a customer that was driving a 2008 Extended Cab Silverado last Friday at 55 mph and was hit head on. He was stuck in the truck, they had to cut him out of it. Needless to say it was a total loss.

The guy WALKED AWAY with nothing but scratches on his left hand. He is just amazed at how well that truck held up. He bought the exact same truck he had, just the 2010 version.

Amazing how GM's vehicles are holding up.

Glad to hear you're OK after your mishap.

They're on the same platform with minimal modifications (that I know of), including the interior. Its closer to a Cobalt than the G8 is to the Camaro and if wagons were somewhat fashionable (instead of crossovers) it would definitely be styled as a wagon. I will say that I like the HHR better than the Cobalt. Every time I see my brother's HHR it seems to grow on me a little more.

Back In 2007 They didn't make a SS HHR, Since you could get a Cobalt SS with the 2.4, I decided to make my own HHR SS. After Chevy came out with the HHR SS for real, I was going to take my SS emblems off, But never got around to it.. So they are just still there.. I always tell anyone who askes that it is not a HHR SS. Call me a poser if you want, but I like it so I don't care.
