SLP front splitter, Need license plate too. In texas

Camaro5,

Well I sure have enjoyed having my camaro back. However, I did already get stopped for lack of a front plate. I went to the downtown houston office and got new plates today...

However,

I recently purchased an SLP splitter for a good price and want to install it. I used to have a show-n-go manual retractable plate I loved... but that really wont work with the front splitter.

Anyone with a front splitter encounter this and figure out how to install a front plate still? I REALLY dont want to put holes in my front bumper for the stocker bracket...

Thanks!

Pat

Maybe we can get together and I could fabricate something after seeing what you have and a good way to make it work. I have a fabrication shop here in Conroe and can make just about anything I want. Maybe we could take the old show n go holder and make it work with your new set up.

I thought Texas dropped the front license plate requirement.

Madness11,

Hey that sounds like a plan. Since the wreck I lost my front plate and bracket, so I can order whatever bracket that would work the best...

Whats the name of your shop in conroe? PM please

Hmm.... I dont think so. I got a warning from a state trooper yesterday for not having one on my way from central texas to Houston yesterday.

I thought to myself, I bet if I go later in the night when the drunks are out, i'll for sure get stopped for a nit picky thing.

Sure enough, 3 in the afternoon, I had the red and blues behind me... close to aggieland

this seems like a reasonable solution that doesn't involve drilling:

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=195105 There is the Texas Chapter of C5 and they have been discussing this license plate subject for a while. I don't run with a plate on my front bumper. I keep it on the floor in the back seat.

Slp makes a bracket to use with their lip. Go to slponline.com. Im posting from my phone and dont have enough skills to post a direct link. Its made to not bolt to the facia but underneath and can be easily taken off for show.

The front LP law is still in the traffic code however, when the new traffic code revisions came out the legislature failed to put in the fine attached to the front LP law. Rest assured that it is being addressed and will be corrected.
