Also, GM does perform a lot of market research, including the use of focus groups, with regard to colors to help to determine what color choices to offer on their vehicles.

Fbodfather,
I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate all the time you spend on here with us. I am sure many of the others do as well. As far as the dead horse is concerned, I believe he is live and well. Reason is that color is an emotional choice in my opinion and we can pretty much guess how things can drag out when emotions are involved. Anyway, after reading on & on, I wanted to know what is the process of color validation? I read it all the time on here, & please excuse my ignorance, but why does it cost so much. I mean, why can't just any color work? Why would there be problems with matches in a color brought back after only a 1 year hiatus (ala sebring silver in 2002)? Why spend all the $$$$? Please educate us, I'd love to hear about it. |

![]() My core colors would be Hugger Orange,Sunset Yellow,Black,Lime Green,Blue Metalic,Candy Apple Red...those are the primary muscle car colors imo. Then throw in a few others and your set.95% of people would be happy. Wouldnt use those colors in a luxury car but muscle car yes!

Only total sales where all colors are available would be a direct representation of preferred color choice. You see where I'm coming from here, I'm sure. There's a wad of variables to consider, that's for sure.

With all due respect....This has gone on for far longer than I could have ever predicted...
While 100% of the population can never "love" the color palette...100% doesn't hate it, either. For every detractor (and I've only ever seen a few)...each one can still identify at least one or two colors they'd be happy to buy a Camaro in. Again, with respect, it is not our position to pass judgement on the entire color range for Camaro. Because, unless we have limitless funding, few of us here can or want to afford 10 different Camaros...so...choose one you like. If you cannot chose one you like - - THEN there's an issue worth discussing...because otherwise, you don't need to like all 10. You're only getting one. ![]() /soapbox.... so much ado over nothing, imo... vibrant colors? Check. earthy colors? Check. metallic? check glossy? check the exact color you have pictured in your head and demand it be poured into a hopper at Oshawa?.....well, maybe not...

Orville Redenbacher is the Big Winner Here!
Orville's sales are going up, and it's my hope that I can drive to the store in early February in my Crystal Red Metallic ZL1 to get some more
, listening to the exhaust drumming through my head as I make my way to the store. Another good excuse to take her for a ride and I don't know how this debate is going to end. I'm getting tired of it. I do, however, think there is a big heap of concern out here that GM needs to address "officially" somehow ... whatever that means?? There is legitimate issues on both sides. By the way, I saw a CRM vette today...... we were both driving along 1-26 near Charleston SC on a bright sunny day. The car was amazing looking. Simply amazing! |

After reading all the posts here I have come to realize that I am just not among the norm when it comes to color choice on my new vehicles. I completely understand from a business standpoint why the color situation is the way it is. No car company is going to produce anything that is going to cause them to lose money.
I decided to do a search because I want to see what is out there right now in the event I decided I wanted to buy a new 2SS. I am a huge fan of blues and greens. I was only able to find 2 IBM SS camaros anywhere near me and they were both automatics (I will be looking for a manual when the time comes for me). There were plenty of black, red, orange and yellow ones around though. None of which I would ever consider. I guess I would have to order one when I finally decide what I want. I just hope that if I decide on a camaro that there is still a blue color to choose from. If not, I won't be buying a camaro. Color choice is that important to me. And repainting a brand new car is not an option. |
