It kind of talks about it on pages 8-16 and 8-17 in the 2010 owners manual. It says you should not participate in racing or competitive driving during the 1500 mile break-in period. If you are planning on racing or competitive driving after the 1500 mile break-in period then you should change the differential fluid.

Thank you NavyDood.
I see that too. I have not raced after the break-in period and so I did not change it. So at present I have 12k miles with no change of the differential fluid.
The manual says to change it at the first oil change after 30k miles.

I'd change it now, at 12K it's muck.

Clutch type diffs shed tons of material from the clutch plates. And with only 1 qt of lube, it gets mucked up quick when the clutches are new and breaking in. That's why they have you change it early if performance driven, that will get the break in debris out. Then your good for quite a while.

Doesn't need it changed every 1500, just after the first 1500 to get the clutch material break in material out. Strain it with a coffee filter, you'll see what I mean.

But since you have a SS I'm pretty sure you like to enjoy the power that it has every now and then right?

But you need to change it asap. You already have 11k miles on it too much. Change it the first time and you will understand why we are telling you to do it now. Oh and be aware the material the breakin process creates absolutely reeks. I got some on my hands and I stunk for two days afterwards and I'm the type of person that likes the smell of grease and oil.

Thank you very much guys!
Would you be so kind to give me a link for the oil needed please?

From the manual I see I need 75W-90 Limited Slip ( 89021677). Do I need to put in also the friction modifier (part number 1052358)?
Thank you for your details and help.
I am from Italy and imported a Camaro....Here no-one knows how a Camaro works and it is difficult to perform a good maintenance because of lack of information and know-how...

So I am going to import directly a quarter from the web.
Thank you for your help!!!

If you would be so kind to help me on this too... http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=198202

A mechanic who didn't know how to change the filter broke the case and need help now..

I prefer royal purple. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...T|GRP2035_____

You can also use Mobil 1 but there have been some reports that you'll still need to add some friction modifier. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...T|GRP2035_____
