In the end it usually ends up costing them WAY more than just getting the package at manufacture.

Your best bet is to just wait until december + to get yours.

This option is a biggy for me as well, but luckily I'm not financially able to purchase until late '09 early '10 anyway.
Aw man... but maybe this isn't so bad for me. I mean, I want the HUD, no doubt about it but I don't want to be driving my Camaro home from Wisconsin in the dead of winter. Salt BAD! Waiting till Spring 2010 would drive me nuts, seeing all the Camaros around me in the summer of 2009. Also I can save more money by waiting till the HUD is an option....

Awe man.. my head hurts!

I'm just worried WHAT will be removed. I can't afford until at the earliest summer of 2010, and that if I have a GREAT DEAL OF LUCK in the job market after my education. More likely is 2012.

Damn I wish I'd just win the lottery or something and get the Camaro spring of 2010 so I could get the HUD.

Then again you might get some more interesting toys like GenV v8 by then...The car will not be static, they have a plan for continuous improvements laid out already when they got approval for production, sure it can change, but sometimes the changes are GOOD things....

Head Up Display, as seen here:

This image is projected onto the windshield of cars equipped with this option.

Isn't that a bad thing? I heard people say they feel detached from the road with Electric Steering.

Thanks for clarification. Would not want this option. I like the feel of tachometer. I think it would take away from the experience.

It is actually pretty cool....many many views to choose from. I never look down when I demo a vette with HUD.

My car has it right now. I don't feel detached from the road at all.
But I'm excited about it, because that means no engine-driven power steering, which means (imo) more efficient powertrain.

HUD doesn't replace the tach, it just gives you another way to see that info, but in a place that won't take your eyes off the road.

Sorry for that, I will correct that error. To me "Heads" sounded more natural.

It must depend on how it's tuned, some people have the Chevy Malibu with electric steering and find it awkward compared to traditional hydraulic steering.

Yea, I just wish GM would put this option in more of it's car. This option is only available in one Pontiac car which is about to be discontinued, the GMC Acadia, the Corvette, and maybe this car. This would be a really cool feature in the Sky Redline for example.

I though it was a sloppy way of typing "Head's up Display", which in turn is short for "Head is up Display"
