I totally missed the part about the HUD coming out in Dec 2009! Crap, well at least it's coming out. Hmm, I want the HUD so I would need to know how much more it would cost to install it later, if not, I may delay... I don't know...

Well, tell me if I was wrong, but in the unveiling show they'd only talked about 2009. "The 2009 Chevrolet Camaro." "Production starts at Frebruary 16th 2009." There was never any mention of 2010 Camaro. When the production begins in February 2009 and if they wanna create 100,000 a year, then you can buy it in the same year! What should they do: Holding back the car until 2010 only to say, that they have collected a plenty of them and placed it in the "TOP SECRET CHEVROLET GARAGE" just watching us, having angry faces, because we can't buy this car, yet?" Come on, that allready sounds stupid. They're also interrested selling the car to get money!

Just think about it!

The car is a 2010 Camaro.

the show was WRONG, and they admitted this.

I don't believe I've seen this question answered.

I want my Camaro and I want it NOW. That said, I will buy it next Spring when it comes out...but I want HUD. Now the question:

If I get the Camaro without HUD (but it will be the SS2 with RS..all options), will my dealer be able to install HUD into an existing car when it becomes available in December 09? Is it just the HUD? Or is it a special windshield too? Anything else special to make the HUD?

Thanks for checking into this for me.
Captiain awsome and playhard67, The vette owners that have done the after manufacturing install have shown its possible, but VERY not worth it. Too much calibration, PC instruction/load manipulation and then the parts (GM doesn't sell it, you have to salvage it from another vehicle, wrecked vette etc..). In the end it usually ends up costing them WAY more than just getting the package at manufacture.

Your best bet is to just wait until december + to get yours.

This option is a biggy for me as well, but luckily I'm not financially able to purchase until late '09 early '10 anyway.

Thanks for the info diarmadhi. Very helpful. Unfortunately I know I won't be able to wait until December. If CamaroScotty comes back with the same news, then I guess mine won't have the HUD.

But, I'll only cry for thirty seconds, then I'll have a big grin on my face as I pull off the Dealership lot in my new Camaro, listening to the rumble of the V8 exhaust, then Back in Black (AC/DC). In that order.

You guys need some patience haha. I know this car is a long time in coming, but I won't buy one until:

A) The price is right (ala no dealer markup BS)

B) All the options I want are available (HUD is one of them)

C) I'm confident there won't be MAJOR improvements to the following model year. For instance, if in 2010 it's 425HP then 475HP for 2011 I'll wait.

Patience grasshoppers!

I've already setup a Money Market CD that I'm dumping cash into for this car. By the time what I want is available I'll probably be able to pay cash.

It's been my experience that waiting for that means you'll miss out on some of the nice gadgets and cool features that will be removed because people don't want to pay for them.

True that is a risk, but usually not in the first 1-2 model years. Actually 2nd model year is probably the best. All the bugs will be worked out, but I'm not sure if I'll wait on that or not. We'll have to see what's going on in the world in 2010. If gas is $10 a gallon I may be on a moped.

Haha, not hardly that I got silly and put a turbo on that thing. Having to run premium in the lawn mower sucks

You should get a Craftsman mower for your daily use, and store that Hot Rod Club Cadet to be used for special occassions.
