The bottoms of the old sbc's were fine to 7k to. Hell some of the more hipo ones(327/365, 302's, 350 lt1) would run 8k. Sad reality is their oil pumps were actually more efficient at high rpm than ls stuff. Sbe Ls stuff good to atleast 7500. I have seen some guys run higher. Limiter on my bolt on ls6 is at 7300 now. Lazer and i bumped it up from 7k because it hit 7k so easy.

My old 355 SBC used to spin north of 7500 on Nitrous in our old'68 Camaro. Use to be a blast back in the early 80's. If you want to get crazy with LS Motors you can do something like this All Motor LS record Holder. Really have to hear and see this Car run in person over 9000 rpm.

I think everyone understands short runners = more HP less tq. and long runners = less HP and more to. That is why I put the MSD intake on mine instead of the LS7. The MSD has a 1" shorter and moved my power back about 4-500 rpm's
^ i'm with this person. if you look at the dyno graph from bolt-ons to cam only you can see something isn't right(aside from the curves not crossing at 5252).

christianchevell always tells us about his old engine with the same cam and he put down more torque and didn't rev it out nearly as much.

Someone posted yesterday they installed the btr stage 4 cam and it made 471/420. Seems close to my 473/414. I put 7500 miles on the car last summer. I don't have an answer as to why the tq number was "low"....

That was my car. It was pulling timing throughout the pull. Do to possibly crappy 91 fuel. Gonna try some 93 to see if that helps.

Try another gas station in the future. Shell 91 is a good fuel, I heard. Almost like a 93oct..

i love the look of that intake, thanks for posting the info. I would love to see your exact setup with a stroked bottom end. heres a thought on the tq numbers matching the tq before the cam and intake. The intake manifold caused you to lose torque down low and the cam simply made up for the loss. just a though

OP, I appreciate you posting this thread about the intake. It looks like a formidable option.

I started this thread to share my build. I wasn't looking for answers or approval. I didn't ask for recommendations or complain about the numbers. I am really amazed at some of the responses I received today...
I especially appreciate this post ^^^

You do things to YOUR car because YOU want to. Isn't that what this is really about? Having fun with your toys?

Thanks dude. Got about 3000 miles on the set up, 2 bottles of N2O through it... I love it. No regrets.
