Went "No". Reason being: already know how to drive a stick... just not well . Never had a manual as my DD but know how to drive one and have on several occasions. I asked my boddy w/an '05 GTO if I could borrow his car on the weekends so I could get my manual driving skills sharpened. I bet you could guess what his reaction was:

Active Fuel Management.

The short version is; it shuts down half the engine's valvetrain, fuel, and spark during low-load conditions. Thus improving fuel economy.

That is exactly why it doesnt work well on larger trucks. I just get the impression from some here that they think AFM will let them be a 4 cylinder unless they hammer on it and thats not how it works. I dont see how AFM would be a major positive for the auto. What will be nice is when aftermarket programming for the ECU is perfected and they figure out how to tune around the AFM AND make it possible to force V4 mode whenever you want. That would be a major positive.

1) Do you live in a congested, large city? PHX, better than some, worse than others. Just depends on the time of day and holidays etc..

2) Do you plan on economy, or "spirited" driving? Both

3) Have you EVER driven a stick -- much less one with 300-400+HP before? Yes, its why I'm getting the manual..

Actually there is another alternative reason... the wife doesn't know how to drive a manual.. which means she CAN'T drive it.. so she won't, without me having to argue with her...

Totally agree with all of the above, except the traffic. Driving in to 7th St from the west valley at 7am... Yikes. Thats why i moved to 3d shift, never hit the brakes on my commute.

When we get a few of these machines around PHX we will have to start a Gen5 club.

A sports car requires sport driving - nothing better than putting a smaller gear in and hearing those revs going up ^^

Everybody learns how to drive with a stick here. I 'd get an auto when I decide that I can't be bothered to rly drive again

As for my wife, she does not dare to enter my 180HP car as it is now, and once I rly forced her I "enjoyed" a 100m ride in 3rd gear going max 50Km/h... I don't think she will want to drive a 422HP Camaro no matter what lol.

because AFM is only available on the L99 motor which is only available with an automatic. some people don't like the idea of that deactivation stuff. . .so that's why.

AFM is the L99, and only available with an automatic.

You opt for the stick, you get the tried and true LS3
