All Chevrolet did was go from a car that is almost completely impractical (Gen 5) to one that is, in fact, completely impractical (Gen 6).

And the consolation for losing the almost imperceptible amount of practicality the Gen 5 had is a massive improvement in vehicle dynamics in the Gen 6.
You have to remember your market segment though. If you make the car essentially a two seater, then it's not the same vehicle is once was and will now compete in a totally new segment.

Remember also, the 5th gen was extra heavy to begin with. So, you're comparing something borrowed from a fullsized platform at Holden to a platform (6th gen) that was designed to be sold in the U.S. and underpin the Camaro.

Making a vehicle less practical, no matter how impractical it was to begin with, is a bad decision. Then again, GM has a long storied history of making bad decisions so it shouldn't come as any surprise, I guess.

The 6th gen is reinventing the segment there is no doubt there .When and if in our lifetime when the new Challenger comes out do you think it will be a roomy as it is now . No ,it will be smaller and people will welcome that . May be at some put in years to come Ford will have an answer to the SS 1LE in its price range.
The Camaro was never meant to be a full-size vehicle , 5th gen was built on that platform ,maybe that was the bad decision . The 6th gen Camaro has pushed the level of performance through the roof , putting down track times better then Porsche ,Ferrari , Ford and Corvette and that is just from the SS 1LE .You may think that GM made a bad decision with the 6th being impractical but the performance world don’t , and if someone can’t fit golf clubs in the trunk then that’s just too bad for them .

To me the 5th gen backseat is as impractical as the 6th. Kids can fit unit and that’s about it

If you think Camaro is following Mustangs you know nothing about either one . Camaro could have stayed on the Zeta platform and still be ahead of Mustang today .

Thanks, that was a good read. I find it amusing that according to that article the 5th gen V6 is significantly faster than a stock '69 SS 396 in both 0-60 and top speed and has the exact same 1/4 mile time yet we're labeled as pussies by some for driving a V6

When will you cease your miserable attempts at being an authority on every automotive subject? Given the track record of your statements, I'll leave it to forum members to decide who knows nothing about either one.
