Radio only goes to 45. Can i set this to go higher?

The built in EQ is different for radio, cds, and AUX, adjusting that can get you a little louder.

Don't buy amps. Go buy the PDIM unit and have it installed in your 1SS. Then buy a USB flash drive and store your music on that instead of using your phone. If your iPod works with the PDIM USB port, you can use that instead of the USB flash drive.

The problem isn't with the radio, its with the source and how you are getting the audio into the system. Either fix the source or change how you are getting the audio into the system.

I like my music loud too but any input (FM/CD/XM/USB) at a volume over 30 starts to distort the sound. At 45, it would be damn loud but sound like crap. (FYI...I've got the BA speaker upgrade in my 1LT Camaro).

The first day I had my 2LT the max volume without distortion was 35. Which wasn't very loud it was definitely audible but wasn't enough nor did it sound that good. 45 is the max volume of the radio there is no way to change that. But after ripping out all the BA stuff and replacing it with high end components and amps now 32 is the loudest I can take it. It will go louder I just can't take anymore its LOUD.

there's no way that 45 is too low. I listen to music at ear splitting levels and 35 is about as much as I can take. your source is bad. throw out you mp3 player or rip new music.

I don't know if this will help you are not. I have a cable that goes into the bottom of the IPOD ( USB) type and the other end is a mini plug that goes into the aux port. I'm under the impression the sound is better coming from the bottom port instead of the headphone jack. Hooking it up this way the volume is controlled from the radio. Turning the volume up on the IPOD has no effect on the volume coming out of the stereo so I leave the IPOD volume all the way down and control the volume from the stereo only. I think the loudest I had mine was about 30 and it was very very loud.

I'm sure I'll get flamed for this but whatever - I do agree with the "different strokes for different folks" comment, I just think in this case that comes from a naive and uneducated point of view. You all should read this short article:

I own a 1LT with the Non- BA sound system, as a test I turned the radio to 30 - average output was around 83db(a). up to 35 output was close to 88db(a) - at this point we are already in the permanent hearing loss zone. I'm sure for the BA amped system guys these levels are probably at least 10db higher. For short listening purposes this is an acceptable range, but dude, seriously above 45 would be like 100 ft away from a jet engine at takoff if you were to monitor at that level for more than an hour you could destroy your hearing in one sitting.
I know most of us feel invincible and arent necessarily looking at our 20 or 40 year plans but please take my advice and dont take for granted your hearing. You don't want to live with a permanent ringing in your ears trust me. If you feel you truly dont care or like to live life on the edge, I suggest you go outside and stare directly into the sun, it is truly a beautiful sight to behold, and the end result will be similar to that of listening to your car stereo at 45 or above for several hours.

LMAO the goes to 11 guy. What you should do is resample your mp3's at a higher volume. There are a lot of programs for this, check google for mp3 editing software.

My Mazda3 had an AUX input jack that SERIOUSLY cut down the volume from my MP3 players: a Zune and a Creative Labs Xen. I had to crank the player's volume to max and nearly max the head unit to get decent volume. Because both were at nearly max volume, distortion was a problem. My wife's IPOD was fine, though.

I bought a battery powered headphone amp called a Kangaroo and used it inline between the MP3 player and the AUX jack. Helped quite a bit. Haven't tried either unit in the Camaro yet...bought an IPOD Touch instead.

Nice lecture. Naive - nope, uneducated - nope. Wait to judge someone over the internet. My Aux input songs at 45 are nowhere near the level of a jet engine. If you would have become 'educated' about this thread and read my previous posts before making a 'naive' response, you would have seen that i said that the songs from my phone using the Aux input was the problem, and that it produced a much lower sound than radio stations . So all your decibel measuring you did can not be compared to my mp3s on my phone. This would make all your points mute and all the nonsense about permanent ringin, loss of hearing, staring into the sun and feeling invincible just ridiculous garbage.

C'mon bro, I didnt call you an idiot because you don't know how to operate your mp3 player, but I'll try not to take offense to your opinion of my post.

Truly you should think about picking up a SPL meter so you can see for yourself if you're listening at unsafe volumes. And, for the uneducated naive people who do think they are invincible maybe my post will get them to think twice when cranking up their systems till their speakers distort.
