thanks
Just make sure it is an up to date unit, i sprung an extra 50 and bought it straight from V1 so i new i was getting the most up to date model. You can ask the seller to post the serial number and then you can check it on V1 website to see if it is the latest software.

I was skeptical at first when my A/V guy tried to get me to invest in the K40, this damn thing is expensive (~$1300) plus you have to pay for a few hours of labor to get it installed (~12hrs depending how it's installed)...but I knew that I didn't want suction cups, wires, or some little black box hanging out in my front window just inviting thieves to smash into my beloved camaro. I WANTED the stealth install and wanted the laser jamming capability.

So I bit the bullet and bought the K40, had it installed with both front and rear laser jamming and haven't looked back. I don't set out to speed but it is TOO EASY to get above the speed limit in these cars. This unit has saved me numerous times since it was installed in July and it has helped me to maintain a better eye on my speed also.

All I have are 2 tiny blue LEDs in my dash mounted only where I would notice them.
I know exactly what you mean, i just had my camaro broken into in Chicago this last weekend for my damn V1. Never even thought about taking it down. oops, learned my lesson, tints are being put on this week and i will always take it down when its parked outside.

I just got Escort’s new Redline which is doing a good job with the range it picks up also I have a Valentine 1 that I like the arrows telling where the cops are. Also I have a Passport 9500i and an Escort X50 and a couple other older detectors. The Redline must be either really good or they are having production problems since it is sold out. I have been on other web sites where people go on and on about which radar detector is the best to being ridiculous.

Don't buy a V1 on ebay they don't authorize the sale of them on ebay. No warranty.

On dash K40 Rd850 $299.99 and guarantee you won't get a ticket from radar.
In dash K40 Calibre $2000.00 with laser diffuser guarantee you won't get a ticket from radar or laser.

Escort's new Redline has been doing the best job on long range although they are back ordered right now. Then the Escort 9500i and Valentine 1 are about equal. I know these threads can go on forever so it is personal preference.

Can anyone recommend a good place to buy a Passport 9500? Seems like every major retailer has it set on a price, I can't find any deals!

Edit: Escort 9500ix radar detector for $300 shipped at Drugstore.com. You need to follow the instructions in this thread: http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthr...ghlight=9500ix
