Although I recall there’s some way you can tap into the harness for the camera to work with the PAC and an aftermarket HU, honestly for less than $50 you can just add a camera. I actually found one that’s integrated into the stock license plate lights.

Again, no problem. To me it just makes more sense to go this route. It’s easier, possibly cheaper and you get the bigger screen view. As you can see from the pic, the license plate light gives the camera more light.

no, the maestro hooks up to your camera directly through the harness. Rerouted to the stereo and is now disconnected from the mirror.

for sure there's a way, just need to determine which wire is what. a schematic should solve this, a user here has an electronic service mannual , some searching could bring it up.

Thank you. I did decide on the PAC unit. I am likely going one of two routes:

1. Buy a second camera. It'd be higher resolution anyway, so should look a lot better.
2. Buy the maestro RR interface kit and GM2 kit. I would use these with the PAC so I would have the best of both worlds.

I finally got around to testing the whole setup. I will have some wiring tips for you and get you a pic of what the factory camera looks like on this thing. Have you picked a radio out yet? I am using a Kenwood DDX9906XR.

I chose to keep the video on my mirror. I advise getting an RCA extension as it will not reach behind your radio otherwise. The mirror is a better place for the camera anyway. Don't forget to tap your reverse light to trigger the camera!
Did you have to tap the reverse light with the diy harness? The factory wiring in the harness won't do it? Do you remember what wire you tapped in to for this? I'm doing this soon on my 12 and using factory camera and the diy harness and want to make sure I get it right the first time.

You are correct. If you use the PAC Interface Kit, you will have to tap into the reverse wire. It is the light green wire in the driver's side tail light pig tail. I am posting the link for you where I found out (with pictures):

https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=120679

The good news with using the Maestro RR, GM2 Harness and Maestro-enabled radio is that that harness has a reverse wire that connects to the radio one. I tried it out yesterday, and it brought up my reverse camera without having to use the wire I tapped. That GM2 harness reverse wire found something in the factory harness that indicates revers, and that made me happy. This is something to consider if you have not done anything yet.

Once my radio is buttoned up, I will submit a post and photo about setting up this combination of systems (Maestro with the PAC Dash Kit) and how the factory camera looks on a larger screen. The lines from the mirror don't transfer down. The lines are generated by your radio there. I do like the turning lines on our mirror.

Feel free to ask any more questions. I pretty much just replaced everything but the factory wiring on the stereo (Dash kit, head unit, all speakers, amplifier, sound deadening).
