New users won't be missing something from their lives if they skip his earlier posts and don't see his opinion on every page; if everyone made sure that new users always saw their opinions then the forum would become unusable with everyone constantly reposting their opinions.

However, that doesn't mean that he should shut the hell up, either. Obviously he feels very strongly about it and it is a common topic. If I were in his shoes, I would put a link in my sig to this thread or a similar one, titled something like "Why the SS bumper sucks", and whenever I felt it was necessary to refresh the presence of my opinion I'd post a short reminder and mention the link in my sig ("Blecch! I don't like it...see the link in my sig.").

This, in fact, is why I have the link in my sig about the effect of weight on fuel economy. It allows me to repeat my opinion without being a jerk, elaborate on it without taking up space everywhere, and it funnels responses into one thread.
That is a good idea. Instead of repeating something over and over, just put it in your sig...

Dragoneye,

Now I haven't read every single post by CA throughout the forum, however I don't see anything wrong with Captain Awesome posting how he feels in every post in this thread since this topic is about switching the SS bumper with the V6. In time, I'm sure even Captain will cool it down some but at this point it is too early for that. We haven't seen any high-res pics of the SS bumper in any other color than black.. I'm sure there will be more "Captain Awesome" like posts once those pictures come out and we can make a closer comparison since the vote on this forum is almost split in half. I know his posts are annoying to you since you read ALL of them. However many lurkers on this thread and people in general who come to forums only read the first few new posts of each thread and skim over to the first page to read what the thread is about. In that case, he should be repeating how he feels in each post so new people get to read his opinion.. It is the nature of the beast that is a forum.. Yes, repetitiveness can get annoying.l However I don't see Captain Awesome breaking any forum rules in the process and a restriction on him because of his passion for wanting the production to be exactly or as close as possible to the concept is something we all at one point or another wanted. I would just ignore his posts if they annoyed me that much and some forums even have an ignore button included as well. I think someone should start a V8 SS bumper appreciation thread, and then I would agree that Captain should stay out of that one ... However by telling him to stop taking pot shots at the SS bumper, you are moving away from what Camaro is all about which is American Freedom. Even though most admins and moderators will tell you it is not a democracy but a dictatorship in a forum, I do feel that this community should transcend that since it is about an American icon. So this fourm should hold American values and ideals as well.. My two cents on this

In a few of the video's, the goal of all the people working on the Camaro was to keep it as close to the concept as possible. I too feel they veered away from that with the V8's bumper, and hope I get used to it enough not to care. GM knew the backlash they were going to face from some loyalists in the community about the bumper, however it was done anyways. And granted more than half like it more so it wasn't neccesarily a bad choice either. Throughout history, the top model cars always have something to differntiate them from the lower end sibling.. Nobody figured it would be a different bumper, however it does not look bad to me, it just looks different than the concept and I like the concpet and V6 looks better. At this point, it's way too early to tell how I will feel once I see it in person and hopefully soon I can see one for myself in the showrooms and make my decision then. I'm still getting a V8 no matter what and I probably will not go thru a process of changing the bumpers as I stated earlier in this thread. I will keep everything stock and enjoy it no matter what. I do wish the HUD was available at launch but don't know if I can wait a whole year to place an order..
excellent post

I must be in a minority or something, but I think the SS looks fine. Grille and all. Great actually!

I really cant complain about a damn thing on this car so far. It's a dream come true. But then again, we havent seen any pricing yet....

For me, I plan on getting a fully loaded LT RS. If I can't have the hood scoop with that car, I may have to get the SS bumper. My big beef with that is I would feel like I am pretending to drive a better car, which is pretty lame, IMO.

actually I think if the scoop wasn't there it would look too skinny performance is important but so is the look i think the scoop gives it a more bolder aggressive look, I like it and it would suck if it didn't have the scoop just my opinion

Depends on engineering reasons for the SS/V8 frontend

Looks like part of it may be to get more airflow into grille and some at the bottom edge is for downthrust - but I am no expert

I dont think GM is making frontends different just for cosmetics
I am sure they would like single part number too

I believe, from past experience, that those who have the V6 wanted to make everyone believe they had the SS, so they would buy the hood, the spoiler, the wheels, and the emblems. They would add an exhaust to make it louder and try to "trick" the other drivers into thinking they had an SS. It would be unorthodox to reverse this wonderful tradition.

Nope, I want people to look at me and go "Wow, that is one sick ass V6..."
- Xanthos

P.S. - 'course, I could be the minority. Its kinda why I tuned out my 305 so much in my IROC instead of doing a 350 swap like seems to be the norm. I paced a 2001 SS for a good while and when we stopped to talk he was like "Thats a 305? Sick..." Thats what I like.

Although highly improbable because these are all concepts pics, but I would like to see one of these grille options when the camaro is released. I think that the stock grille is spaced to far apart and the billet has a much tighter and aggressive look.
