That is another option, but for a variety of reasons, I prefer to keep all my automotive extracurricular activities limited to my 2013 2SS.
1 - I already have it. 2 - My garage isn't big enough for another car and my inner-city property can't have another garage. 3 - I'm perfectly happy to strip down the car I already have. I understand that there is learning curve to working on a can bus car and I am willing and able to learn it. |

But I don't need to know at this point and it is not something that is typically needed to know for most modifications. I'm not trying to strip my car down. I have my DF Goblin kit car for that, and even it still has its BCM, ECM and Power Steering Module.

Lots of manufacturers of kits to do this and sales are not lacking. Maybe Camaro5 is the wrong place to talk about going to a stand alone system on a 5th Gen Camaro. My bad... |

I think what everyone is trying to tell you is you are WAAAY over your head. An electric fuel pump needs a negative and a switched positive preferably through a relay and you will need to install a return line for your regulator-you could even use your stock fuel pump. The fact you don't know something this simple means there is no possible way you could pull this off. Not trying to insult you just stating facts. The factory system is extremely robust and with a high end scanner or the Bosch MDI2 troubleshooting and repairs are as easy or easier than any of the older analog cars.

Clearly the wrong place for this. I was expecting more like, "This is how I did it" or "I did it this way, if I could do it over I would have done it that way" or "Never done it but this is how I would do it." And maybe some pics. Very common stuff in internet forums. Not here though. Oh well. Moving on... |

It doesn't matter what kind of analog car, truck, tractor, train or golf cart you have they are all wired the same. Not trying to bust on you, but you haven't a clue-telling you as a friend.

The door handles work perfectly when battery is disconnected, they are mechanical.

An application specific pic and schematic would show where and how some folks mounted the regulator, part number for regulator, routing of wiring, routing of return line, which wires on the OEM pump were used and what for, and which wires were cut, specialty hardware needed. All the other details. These kinds of things are nice to see. Maybe not essential, but nice. Yes, I could figure out on my own. But that's not the point either. You seem to think that asking anything means that the asker knows nothing. And you are free to think that. I see it a little differently. I see asking questions and sharing pics as people with common interests brainstorming and sharing ideas. You clearly have a different view. |

We were talking about deleting the fuel pump control module, wiring the OE fuel pump to a switched 12 volt source via a relay and a ground. Then installing an aftermarket regulator and return line. Taking the fuel pump out of the can bus and using a stand alone ecu to run the engine. Service manuals would help since one could identify 12 volts and ground for the pump. But we were talking about the schematic and pics for the "finished product" after the modification. |
