Is the Camaro the one?

I can remember when I was younger my father always told me about his old cars. How he wished he never got rid of them. I am sure some of you out there know what I am talking about. Well I am 28 and have owned a few cars. None that I would say I wish I would never have gotten rid of that car. So my question is. Is the Camaro an instant Classic? A car that will live the test of time, like the older Camaro's and all older Muscle cars? I know what this car means to me and I think I know now what those older cars meant to my father and people who love cars.

Yep. I haven't even bought one yet...and I know if I do, I won't ever be able to sell it/trade it. It doesn't matter how much better future cars get (and they will)...it's the one.

My first car, that sits in our barn waiting to be fixed up again is 'the one' (1967 mustang gt s-code). But the camaro is the first car I will have ever owned outright so will always hold a special place in the heart, and I doubt I will ever get rid of it.

I think I'll be keeping this one a long, long time - provided its style is a timeless as I think it is now and that it doesn't end up looking as dated as the 4th generations look today.

It's all in the eye of the beholder. I feel love now for cars I did not like that much when I owned them.

My Camaro has not arrived yet, maybe by the end of next week, but it already has a special story behind it which means I'll never sell it.

I've informed my close friends and my sister on the reason why this Camaro, Elaine, has increased value.

Therefore, I could never part with my Camaro. This is the one.

Mine will be a lifer. I have owned a several Camaros in the past and regret letting the last one go. Though the 2010 is probably the ultimate so far. I will always have a special attachment to the 2nd gens. Most folks don't like the ones with the battering ram bumpers. But, they were tough as nails. I slid into a concrete wall one cold morning, in an underground parking garage in Dallas. Barely tapped it and just scuffed the rubber insert on the bumper. The 2010 would completely cave in if that happened to it. Lovin the 5th gen but, they don,t make em like they used to.

the weekend that just passed
after weeks of bugging me
i let my older brother drive to the store
as i sat on the passanger side
with every second that i wasn't behind the wheel
i became more and more aggitated i couldn't control it

everytime i see it i smile
evrytime im driving it inside i get this warm sensation as if it were a part of me
every problem in my life just dissapears
304hp on my fingertips!!

i guess this is my dream car

Depends on what you mean by "instant classic." The late 60s and early 70s are classics. The late 70s and 80s, not so much. I guess a good way to know how "classic" it is could be based on current values and how desirable it is. The new Camaro is still "new" and time will tell, but I don't think any new car can be called an instant classic. I'm guessing 20 years from now it will probably have classic potential, maybe not. Maybe the term "classic" will be reserved for the original models from the 60s. See if anyone is rebuilding 2010s in 2030 or 2040.

I can tell you I will never get rid of my Challenger.

I look at the Challenger the same way. I guess what I am trying to say is that, cars today just do not seem to have the wow factor. Unless you spend alot of money. Now saying that, the Challenger and the Camaro are very affordable just like in the 60's and 70's and have the WOW factor. Did people back in the 60's and 70's think that those cars would be worth something? I believe some did. They put them in the garage and never drove them. I know that if I were to get rid of this car I would regret it. So I hope I never have too.
