L99 owners, whats the best cam?

I want to cam my L99, it already has ARH headers and roto-fab CAI. I want a mild cam because I drive my car almost everyday, but I want a real growl and loop from the cam. I'm a noob with cams and don't know much about them so help would be great, thanks guys.

We put a G6x3 cam from Lg in one of our sutomers cars. It made 445 to the wheels through a 3200 stall converter. Car went a 11.79 this sunday on 20" radials.

I second the G6X3 but dont forget a good torque converter. They ,like cams, are not all made equally. I recommend an Edge Racing Converter.

What does a torque converter have to do with a cam?

When you install large cams you lose low speed torque, in order to get the enging to jump up in to where it makes power you have to install a looser or higher stall speed converter to cover up that loss in low speed torque.

Typically in a Race Car we look at where the engine makes peak torque, for example 4500 RPM, and Peak Power at 6500 RPM, we would install a 4500 RPM Stall converter so we can leave the line with MAX torque.

This is Ideal for Drag Racing but NO Fun to drive daily, the stall speed in a typical factory built car is in the 1600 RPM range for comparison.

Ted.

Thanks Ted Yeah, with the low end loss on that cam you might want a torque converter. Driveability will go way down with that huge cam and converter though. Are you going to take the car to a track a lot?

Driveabilty with either should be fine with a good torque converter and a good tuner. I am sure Ted can tuned some big cams with good driveabilty. I have tuned some cams in these that are much larger with a stall and they drive great.

I personally am waiting for more VVT cams to come out. I see MAST has been ahead of the rest of the pack. Other than Mast and Comp Cams I can't find any other company with real data. Mast is currently working on the stage II Cam I believe.
