On one hand I believe him, because at 18 I had been working for 4 years on my own car, a '55 Chevy... and had bought and sold cars and worked at a burger stand to make the money it took to fix it all up into a show winner... granted, this was in 1984-88... and I used to get a lot of the "Is that your dad's car" and "who bought that for you" comments when I had done most if it myself, and financially, all myself.
The day I bought it for $500... I was 14. ![]() After rebuilding it... cost me about $8000 to build it up like this in 1980's dollars... ![]() On the other hand... now that we have computers... it's even easier to bull shit your way into making people think you are more than you really are. This thread could go on for days... and he's probably having the last laugh watching us get all worked up. Sam |

hmmmmmm so you chose the camaro
Not sure I would have gone that route....I mean you have lets see 2 cars and motorcycle....each go for what about 10,000 or so....then you have a 40,000 Camaro....Think I would have sold the 2 cars and the bike...you would have had 70,000 to play with....Thats just me...Or kept one car sold the other two and still had 60,000 or more to play with....Dont get me wrong LOVE the camaro but lots of other nicer cars at that price point...Everyone different though...

That being said, doesn't that make your point moot? You have to see that buying three cars with an income supplemented by a large monthly social security payment is nowhere near the same situation as your average 18 year old saving his or her pennies from flipping burgers. Quote:

Anyways, who said he was flipping burgers? There are a lot of kids out there who actually want a future, unlike the gangsters, drug dealers, and kids like that. You would be surprised to see what some kids are doing for jobs right now. I work at a pizza hut, and a performance shop. I am not no certified mechanic so i pretty much do a lot of bitch work, but the owner lets me work with him on the cars and i learn A LOT. So when i go to college next year, i will have knowledge that most kids do not when starting into a career that they want to pursue. There are still some kids who care in this world! don't give up on us yet! |

Pics or no pics... I gotta call BS.
Having pictures of you in, or with, a car doesn't mean it's necessarily yours. I had my picture taken in the Knight Rider Trans-Am about 25 years ago. Does that mean it's mine?

Somehow, I think this is more likely the story here:

I'm just saying, the cars you mentioned would retail at over 100k all together. Hell, I'd have bought me a house. Don't take it personally. Just saying that it's hard to believe an 18yo could save 100k, or so, in 8 years if they aren't getting some serious help.
