I'm in LOVE

Howdy y'all,

I think I've got a bad case of Camaro-itis. I used to have a '68 Camaro SS when I was a younger lad, and loved it. Now I'm obsessing over a 2010 1SS or 2SS, if I can afford it. It seems to pre-occupy all my time on the 'net, whether it's looking thru this forum, or thru the auto trader. I have 2 posters from the dealership, a brochure, and I've been to every dealership in town looking for Camaros.Heck, even my computer wallpaper is a SIM 2SS, with the hockey stripe.

They've sold every camaro in town here, except one that is on display, but is owned by the dealership's big boss...a red jewel 2SS.

My only problem is I have to sell my '07 Civic Si first, to come up with a decent downpayment. I've been to the Chevy dealerships to see what they would give me for a trade-in, but it's ridiculously under what I can sell it for privately, only $13,000 (about $7,000 less than private). I guess with the economy the way it is, and the time of year things are slow, as I haven't had a single bite on the Civic Si. I even dropped my price by $2,000, with no luck.
Heck, I've even considered selling my truck now, a 2005 GMC Sierra 3500 SLT w/ duramax. But if I do that, I might as well sell my 30' travel trailer, 'cause I won't be able to tow it.

I'm starting to worry now that if I don't act soon, GM may pull the plug, either by going belly up, or discontinuing the Camaro, due to this economic pickle we're in. Someone tell me my fears are un-founded....'cause I'm probably going to have to wait for a 2011 Camaro...

Can't get this car out of my head, yep, I've got a bad case of Camaro-itis. Watching Barrett Jackson last night didn't help things either. I guess I shouldn't have sat in a new one in the first place. I suppose If I'm real desperate, I could trade in the Civic Si, but I would really be losing my shirt over the deal, as I paid over $30,000 for it new, and the wife would never let me take a screwing like that.... especially as it's her car

Can someone recommend a prescription for me? Like a link to an all Ford demo-derby or something?????

I wouldn't worry too much. This car is selling like hot-cakes and they are over expectation on the success of the car. You can wait for the 2011 model year with no problem. Even if they did stop you could pick up a used one. I paniced and preordered for the same reasons. Glad I did, but they are even more stable now than when I ordered. Take your time. You'll be just fine.

Oh, and, there is no cure but to partake in the thing that ails.

If you read through the threads, there is a post on how well the Camaro is selling and how it is surpassing GMs profilt expectations.

There will be no plug pulled. And at this point with GMs current balance sheet, if they go under, you've got bigger problems in your life than not getting a Camaro.........like working and eating.

It's solid, it'll be there for some time to come.

I assume its 30K Canadian, which is still a lot of money for a honda, no offense.

He's trying to get 20K, not 30K as someone had suggested.

Edit: I see he paid 30K new, my bad.

Yep, I'm in Canuck land. I've researched what '07 Civic Si's are going for privately, and around 20K is the average. Hell, I'll even take 18K at this point.

Obviously, you have no idea what we have to pay to play up here in Canada.
30K for a brand new Civic Si is the REALITY up here.
45K for a brand new Camaro 2SS is what we have to pay up here.

But our average wage is higher, so it all balances out I guess

I know how you feel. I just bought a Malibu LTZ back in '08. then when I went to trade it in on the camaro they didn't wanna give me jack for it. You just gotta hone your negotiation skillz a bit. Still had to write a check to make up for the diff betwen what they gave me and what I owed on it when I traded it in tho. It was all well worth it tho, no regrets
