I still dont see the problem with gently resting it on the side of the car... Its not going to move back and forth if you the one filling the gas...

Hair rubber band. This is the best and most practical idea! Better than sticking an unsightly white 'caddy' to the gas cap and it's essentially FREE!!!!!

Just remember that petrol can make rubber/rubber bands dry out really fast. So replace every few months would be reccomended.

All you have to do is put a bend in the lanyard..it is stiff and that is what causes the problem. If you put a bend in it so it lays inside the hinge/door and follows the contour it stays perfectly on the hook. Takes about 5 seconds, just fold the laynard where you want the bend(see pic)....no more issues..

That gives me an idea... Get a small magnet and some contact cement. I haven't looked at the inside of the gas door on these cars but if its steel, easy to do. If its plastic, you could still glue another magnet or a little piece of steel to the inside of the door. Anyone want to try it out?

Problem is easily solved if you avoid full-service stations...I only use self-serve (no fuel jockey is ever going to ram that nozzle into my tank)...I feel sorry for all those owners who live in NJ...they don't have a choice and most of those fuel jockeys, unfortunately, can barely add 2 + 2...bottom line: Use Self-Service Gas Stations.

I've never had ANY problem with the gas cap hitting my car. Same hook is on my Trailblazer too.

get a newer camaro
. or maybe you could get your dealer to trade you gas caps? the later ones (like mine) work great. the original plastic cable thingy was too fat. the newer camaros have skinnier ones that sit in the door hook perfectly.
