Anyone know of a good place in Houston that can do the delete and install the X-pipe?

Lonestar Muffler off of Telephone Road was recommended to me by G-Force Motorsports but when I called them yesterday, they guy said he could do it (fairly cheap too) but thought it wouldn't sound good to do the delete. I'm fine with going to them to do the work but I guess I'd rather go to someone who has done it before on a Camaro, knows what it will sound like, etc.

Great sound! How does it sound when going down a freeway? Does it pop more with the delete than before?

It does pop a bit more during decelleration. I may be getting an X pipe to help alleviate it. It is a bit louder on at highway speeds, but A) you get used to it pretty quickly, and B) you can still hear your passenger talking, it doesn't drown you out.

And don't worry what the muffler guy says. Most people are pretty critical of this mod before they hear it, but it does make a world of difference.

Awesome. Thanks for all the info and great videos!

I have the X-pipe so I will be adding that; hopefully that will prevent some of the popping. I'm wondering if the X-pipe can be installed with the stock resonator still in place and would that help with the popping?

ok, so i have been reading this thread a while. was thinking about the x-pipe with the muffler delete so i talk to a couple of exhaust shops and they said they would not remove the h pipe because it tunes the exhaust and you need the mufflers for the back pressure. any opinions on this?

Here is my muffler delete setup. This is on an LS3....I removed the H-pipe and resonators, put in a resonated x-pipe (magnaflow #11386), did a muffler delete, and used some Magnaflow tips. I have $325 in this setup.

The resonated x-pipe will be your muffler. Go look at Magnaflow's #16580. It's basically that system.

I have had the same type of responces in the past 3 years with diff cars I have owned. Can't find a shop with an old guy that knows whats going on.

BULL, I SAY BULL.

And the few I found that will do work, want $50 per weld, or for a single cut.

I highly recommed:
Uvalde Muffler Brake & Algnmnt- more info »
13350 Utica Street, Houston, TX‎ - (713) 450-1366‎

They did my muffler delete for $125 and said they can do anything else. Very good work....

Your cats should be giving you some backpressure and the #11386 will also. If you search the threads for the inside of an LS3 muffler you'll see that's a straight pipe with holes in it wrapped by a muffler case with packing in it. Well that's exactly what the #11386 is. It's an x-pipe with preforated holes, wrapped in a muffler casing and packing. Again....I just made the same basic setup as the magnaflow #16580 system.

Take a look at the pics I tried to take of the inside of the #11386 and you'll see is the holes and the X on the inside.

The correct x-pipe for the SS is part # 10791 and you can use coupon code FreeGround. This x-pipe in combination with the muffler delete will be loud and I would suggest it for an automatic (L99) SS Camaro because you will get drone when the VVT (4 cylinder) kicks in. If you're automatic and going to do a muffler delete I'd suggest the resonated x-pipe part # 11386 and the coupon code is Special1 for this product. This will give you the same benefits of the x-pipe but it will help control the drone and popping when you lift out of the gas.

Please feel free to call, email or PM me anytime with questions. We appreciate your interest in our products and have a great day!

That is correct, these parts fit the L99. I would highly suggest part # 11386 or 14386 for the L99 with a muffler delete. It will help control the tone as well as improve the performance. Please feel free to call, email or PM me anytime with questions.

Kind regards,

Will these control the drone better than the resenator already on the L99 if you do a muffler delete?

H-Pipes are old technology. The x-pipes are much more efficient and if they're telling you you need the H-Pipe for back pressure I suggest finding another shop IMHO.

The factory L99 resonator is very restrictive but it does control the drone. The MagnaFlow resonated x-pipe with a muffler delete is basically a MagnaFlow 16580, if you don't plan on installing headers and highflow converters you'll be in good shape. The x-pipe actually helps to smooth and control the tone, the resonated x-pipe is basically an x-pipe inside of a muffler.

Please feel free to call, email or PM me anytime with questions. We appreciate everyone's support and have a great weekend!

Kind regards,
