"Just 304hp"??? Experience has NOTHING to do with why I got the V6... This is my 3rd Camaro and the other two were both V8's Also had a 65 Stingray, I'm 56 years old and have been driving all types of cars since 1969, so I think I have plenty of "Experience under my sleeves" I have just matured and do not need to be boosting my ego with overpowered cars any more...

My $.02...
I looked at the V6, but to tell you the truth, even though it has 300HP, it is not "Fast" by comparison to other current cars. Sure it has more power than older camaros, but there are plenty of other cars that perform as well. In my case, I was trading in a RX8. The RX8 has almost identicle measured 0-60 and 1/4 mile times as the V6 Camaro (if not a little faster). Given that, and the RX8 is more fun in the twisty turns (handles like it is on rails) and looked great, I only would go for the SS. The camaro doesn't handle as good as the RX8, but for me the acceleration of the SS is where I get the enjoyment. |

And by "you people" I mean the people who think like you. I'm not sweating you man, like I said, on back roads I wiped the smirk off more than enough faces, I'd still like to know exactly how much time you've spent in a Z, but at this point it really doesn't matter. Quote:

![]() And I agree, if you want a V6, good for you. It really does not impact my life in ANY way. My PERSONAL opinion is that a TRUE Camaro is a manual V8, but that's why I bought one, I don't go around imposing my will or laughing at people because "hahaha, you stupid little man, you bought a V6!" I just don't care. So the unfortunate part, as far as I'm concerned, is that, at least in my case, I am tired of hearing a few V6 people constantly bitch about why other people aren't respecting them (really tells you why they bought the car) and in order to build up their choice, they tear us down for being "young" and "having something to prove" and "must be compensating"...sh*t gets old...reeeeeeeeal quick. That where the ankle jewelry came from? j/k Too easy to pass up though. ![]() Quote:

How shocking. Another fun argument. "I have owned a lot of old camaros and the V6 beats them all"...I bet a civic Type R would too, but it's not very impressive is it, more to do with the development that's happened over the years than the merits of the modern car per se. Quote:
Winner. Anyway, I'm done here, like I said, you almost have to get it out of your system everytime you switch manufacturers, then you start realizing people are the same all over, always finding very tenuous reasons for starting rivalries no matter what it is. Same thing with fords, mopars, imports (ESPECIALLY the honda idiots, oh my sweet sticker happy christ I could never buy a honda just for the people you would have to talk to) etc. etc. Stupid is stupid. Be happy with what you bought, don't tear other people down to build yourself up. If you don't have a problem with what you bought, don't explain it, just shrug it off. You bought it for you right? Why the hell does it matter? Fake a phonecall, don't talk to them. But don't come here and start rolling your eyes at our small wangs and stupid overpriced V8's. (P.s.: I get accused a LOT of being riled up, when, I am mellow as a cucumber, if any of the above seemed high strung, read it in a different tone.) |

Hmmmm???? I have the V8 with a manual and I am a girl. I guess that throws the whole "compensation" theory out the window
![]() I like it when people ask me questions...I think it is great to drive a car that others are interested in...Hey it could be worse...you could be driving a mini-van and no one would ask you anything LOL! Life is too short..enjoy it! |

If people that aren't Camaro experts ask me if it's a V8, I just say yes at this point, instead of having to explain the whole story of the V6 and the V8 for the millionth time...it's fast enough for me...I would be in serious trouble(lol)if I had the 8, trust me....

Wow I opened something
I don't think it is that people are jealous, I think they just expect it. I wonder what all this talk is about the 370Z?? Guys are watching too much fast and furious Tokyo Drift or something. If I am driving down the road and I saw a new 2010 Camaro and a 370Z I wouldn't even know the Z was there! I give them props to their engine. But style wise? No thanks. To each his own on what they buy. I am being honest here. I could not afford the extra $175 a month for the SS. I make a good 6 figure income, but I want to retire someday and I save lots of money. Plus I have to fund the Chevelle. So if you can justify the $700+ car payment a month? Great. Good for you. If you were able to put down 10K and bring down the payment? Good for you except you made a heavy investment up front into an investment that lost 20% plus off the bat, and will continue to lose value. That 10K would have been better paying down your credit card debt or investing into municpal bonds. Again just my opinion. Am I jealous? May sound like it, but really not. I am happy for others, in the end they live with thier decision. That is a personal decision.
I think we are forgetting something here though. Its a brotherhood. We all love the car for most of the various same reasons. That is why we bought it. If you didn't want attention in getting this car from others, then your lying and go by a civic.... Just my 2 cents |

So you would have no problem if they decided to put an inline 4 in the Camaro. Remeber back in 1982 and 1983 when it was available with a 4 cylinder? I don't think it was very desirable cause it was pretty short lived.
They built the V6 for economy, and the V8 for the power hungry enthusiast.

Wow!
So interesting....I am thrilled everytime I see a Camaro. I don't care if it is new/old, V6/V8, auto, manual, black, green, or purple. It is a Camaro! It's part of the family. No new car is a "good" investiment, if my main concern was the $$$ I would have bought a KIA! LOL! And I am perfectly happy to live with my decision. Take it easy on us V8 owners... |
