Not true in respect to the 4 pack gauges. I have a 1SS and installed the 4 pack gagues. I just pluged in the harness and it worked. No ecm programming required.

If it were me and I was going to try it, check your window switch. There should be a yellow and black wire that you could use to power the ambient lighting in the doors.

The yellow and black wires were used to power the lamp in the sunroof button, and the traction control switch.

You could probably take a piece of wire, and push that in along side the yellow and black wires, then you don't have to cut any of the factory wiring.

there is no programming for it yet.

as far as tapping into the wires for the switches i was going to do that but i cannot bring myself to mess with the factory wires.

How about making your own splitter?

Toasty found the ambient light connectors, so all we need is the window switch connectors.

what would the new connectors do for me? where are you thinking to splice into?

im sure everyone has read the original post, but im going to highlite a few things.

1. the 2ss door panels i installed have the lighting with them along with the plugs for the lighting.
2. my doors have the female plug to accept the lighting.
3. the plug in the door is "dead" meaning no power to it.
4. there is no program for the bcm to make the lights work.

options
1. wire the abl into the power for the illumination on the window switch.
2. wait for the program to be released (whenever that may be)
3. use skuttduck's idea and make a new splitter (not sure on what the splitter will plug into though).

options 1 and 3

Unplug the light from where it is at, it is dead.

Make a custom splitter that plugs into the window switch LED power, that splits off to the ambient light plug, and also powers your light in the window switch. Plug the light into the new splitter.

This would suffice until option 2 is a reality.

Since I ordered from mouser, I have the huge catalog now, I might be able to list some parts here that you could make your own plug and play wiring for the doors to accomplish this.

The only difference I can tell between the factory ambient lighting circuit and the rest of the instrument lighting is that you can dim the ambient lighting completely off, while the rest of the lights stay on at their lowest level.
