I can't believe that a manufacturer would lie about their gains. What's the world coming to.

Yeah...I had my car baseline dyno'd by Ted and with only the Borla S exhaust it put down a consistent 342rwhp. Most completely stock L99's on his dyno were in the 335rwhp range. So maybe 5rwhp on average on an L99 car. Don't know if you'd see anything with an LS3 car.

Hey guys - I have been riding an emotional rollercoaster over this issue over the past couple of weeks. I was ready to buy Ted's (Jannetty) kit of LT headers, HF Cats, CAI, and tuner to get his stated 415HP at the wheels until I saw the thread about GM canceling the warranty on any machine that had a tune put on it. I don't want to dump the warranty at this point, and to be truthful all I would like to have at the wheels is 400HP. I am running a 1SS with a M6 and had the impression I was getting about 370HP at the wheels stock. I am not so sure this is really the case based on this thread, can anyone tell me if this is realistic? In any case I was going on the word of DT for their ST Headers being at 20HP and counting on the Cold Air Inductions CAI intake of 11-12HP. Both look like great products and racers have been using ceramic coating for heat management and additional HP for many years. So if it were true the combination of 20HP plus 11HP would be 31HP, added to the 370HP would get me the 400HP I was looking for. It looks like I may come up short? I don't plan on doing a dyno any time soon. Maybe if I am just short I will still be happy with the extra HP I do get until the warranty runs out.

First of all, take a deep breath. You should not be riding an emotional roller coaster over an intake and exhaust! You have an SS Camaro for goodness sakes.

Secondly, even if a tune voids your warranty, if something happens (unlikely) you can go back to stock and just get it fixed.

Thanks iBK3000 Actually, there is the problem. GM states, and I can believe they are true, they have a way to know even if you place the original tune back in that there was an OEM tune in the car. They state in their service bulletin that once detected the balance of the 5/100K warranty is void.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72397

And perhaps stating that I have been on an emotional rollercoaster was a bit too strong . . . . . . . . Nop, that is what it has been.

Im not sure that statement is accurate. If it is it is hard to tell based on the posts in various threads on this site. Ive read some posts that state you can flash the ECM back to stock form but I have read numerous others that state that even if you put the stock tune back on GM will still know how many times the it has been modified and if that count doesnt match the service records they will void the warranty. Not to mention that it is just dishonest.

Dude I am on the same roller coaster as you. I really want to improve an already great car but at the same time I feel like a CAI is the only mod that doesnt void the warranty that actually performs and is worth the money. Im really conflicted about what I should do. I enjoy the car as it is but at the same time its only human nature to want to personalize and improve it.

However - I did speak with a friend at work who states GM can state this but if taken to court they most like will loose a fight on denying a warranty claim. He states he has sued twice on a breakdown that the dealer stated was due to OEM parts and has won both times.

Inferno2SS, Obviously we are thinking alike. However, my research over the past week has me believing we can install the CAI and ST Headers and not void the warranty plus gain some noticeable HP. I am feeling OK with this for now. I picked the Doug Thorley ST headers and Cold Air Inductions CAI at this point.
