Camaro LS3 vs Corvette LS3

So why is the LS3 rated at 430 HP on the Vette and 'only' 426 on the Camaro SS? Same engine.

Different tuning, that's what I would think.

Well, the 2010 V6 Camaro has 304 hp, but the 2011 has 312hp, but no changes were made. So the 2010 really has 312hp. So based on that, you can see how they can come up with the numbers.

It's rated at the flywheel and does not take exhaust into consideration.

I believe it's because the Vette has a different tune and a different cam although I don't remember. I wouldn't rule out what Scotty said either in that it's just a paperwork thing, after all it wouldn't be the first time GM did this.

It's the exhaust. We've discussed this already

dont they do it so the vette owners (like my self) wont get pissed that the camaro which is about 25k cheaper has more power than a vette? But I only have an LS2 so im not complaining, But she puts out about 500 hp thanks to my mods

Corvettes are available with two exhaust systems (one a form of cut-out). The less restrictive cut-out system is rated at an even higher horsepower. I know that the power is measured at the flywheel, but believe that the exhaust system is also a factor.

you don't even know what you're talking about.

The two LS3 engines are SAE Certified for the two applications. Exhaust IS taken into consideration. The differences may be small, but they are very real. Whatever the differences are, they are there. When the engines are SAE Certified, they use the intakes, accessories, and exhaust systems they will be using in the vehicle and are certified to make +-1% of it's rated power.

The v6 for the Camaro was NOT SAE Certified last year, so they were able to give it just about any hp rating they wanted. They finally certified it this year, hence the HP bump to what it truly makes.

Even with the LS2 the vetter is quicker and nimbler. Tried keeping up with one at the track, and was doing quite well actually and I was like . Then he decided he was done playing with me and left me in his dust, then I was all like cya in a few laps when ur behind me again.
