For example: The stalks are too short and the left one which controls the DIC is a pain to control while driving. You should be able to touch them while your hands are still on the wheel and I am sure folks with smaller hands then mine cannot do that. The buttons on the overhead console are tough to find in the dark. The hazzard/door lock buttons are very low on the dash. The trunk release might be better placed whever the door lock button is. Not sure what those pieces of plastic called sunvisors are for. You cannot have a Big Gulp in the cup holder and shift a stick. The power plug should be inside the console as the Ipod or memory stick connection is. Would be nice to be able to charge my IPOD and play from it without having this black spooled up wire running from inside my console, around my shifter to the power plug. You cannot take your eyes off the road and quickly glance at the console gauges. That is the worst place to put them if you want them to be useful. The interior designers said so themselves - it was placed there more for the '68 and '69 novelty than ideal ergonomics. The sill is so high, it's impossible to to get in and out without scuffing the interior plate. That's a sacrifice that cannot be changed due to the exterior design/platform but that doesn't mean it's ergonomic. The brake pedal is too high in relation to the gas pedal. You cannot heel and toe the car. I want to make clear that I am very happy with my interior because of all the first gen tributes in it. There are always going to be ergonomic sacrifices when doing a tribute interior. Come to think of it, my 4th gen interior is more ergonomic than my 5th gen interior. That does not mean I like it more or that the 4th gen quality is better. |

I am glad to see the Camaro get recognized for a well done interior.
As far as areas they could improve on I agree with the comments that say the button overhead for the garrage door opener is hard to locate in the dark; however I don't have much of an issue with the cupholder location. They are not very well suited for big gulps, but they are just fine for cans. After all it is a sports car and not a minivan or sport utility!

I find many complaints about the interior are "specific"...meaning, the complaints are centered around a specific circumstance that the makes the feature perform poorly. In MOST circumstances it's great......but there's always that one.... ![]() Back on topic, I think Wards picked well. And congrats to all involved: One more nick in your belts!

Serious! You picked the right automobile to customize! And other than the spankin' new stereo, you kept the style mostly stock but gave it a well deserved upgrade. I believe my first comments were that it was a "Cadillac Camaro".
The external design award... I saw comming (we all did ), but I had no clue on interiors. I had heard time and time again that people preferred the mustang interior even though it wasn't as 'retro'.Anyway... Way To Go, again, GM!

It served me well through several 13-hour road trips. I can step out of the car after a very long day on the road and not feel cramped and sore. Nothing is hard to reach or hard to find, even at night.

IPODs don't charge off USB? If so, major fail on Apple's part. My wife's cheapo Sansa even charges off USB....

At this point I think we can all agree no car is perfect for everyone.

Don't get me wrong, I like the interior, I just wished it was closer to the concept.
A lot of people were pumped about the 4 gauge cluster (I was as well) but I really liked the speedometer design. I wished they could have kept that metallic retro look. Even the metal work on and around the shifter is beautiful. http://www.cartype.com/pics/5410/ful...cept_in_06.jpg |
