Well I don't live in a small town. But yeah, the sucky part is all they are really saying is, don't bend the rules, break them. Because we'll come down on you like a ton of bricks no matter what.

How a cop, at night, going the other direction, was able to tell how fast I was accelerating aside from just sound (so if I put a quiet exhaust on it would be ok).

Anyway, like i said, they made their point last night, just stay the hell off 141.

I'm from St. Louis too man, and sadly to say, that's just how west county is. They have no crime there, they make money off 'well to do' residents breaking traffics laws. And now that times are harder on municipalities, they are going to try and make some extra money and hammer people even harder. They know you can afford it so they do it.

I live in north county and you have cops, at least to me, that are a little more compassionate because they have other problems to deal with or are just a little more understanding.

Just have to live with the reality I guess. Be careful when your in west county and open it up and have fun on the backroads, like mo bottom and 370 in spots.

I live right at 141 and Manchester, and I have a loud-ass Z06 with no front plate... the Manchester police just wave at me when I go by. I had the cops at my house one night because somebody tried breaking into my other car. They spotted the Corvette in the garage, and one of the guys asked, "Is that thing loud?" I said yes... and he replied:

They did tell me that night that they mostly just write traffic tickets because nothing else happens there, but I drive like an old man. I'm only 26, but I've already learned to just drive normal because I don't want to deal with tickets and crap.

Just make the decision right now to make changes in how you drive your car. In a few years, you won't have any more points or tickets on your record.

Most guys have to go through a process like the one you are doing now, before they end up being one of those guys with Zero points on their driving record.

what happened to you is normal. IF YOU GET another ticket within the next 6 months, for the same type of driving, I would not come online to discuss it.

At that point, you will fully qualify as someone who is unstable, or someone with phenomenal bad luck.

adios

You have to learn when, where and how to speed depending on your area. Both for safety reasons and to avoid tickets.
Simple as that.

the cops on the sub base here... omfg i hate them... they pull people over for ANYTHING... they have nothing better to do, cant blame them, except i still think they suck a whole lot of #$!@#! ...
once they said i was driving drunk after i told em i had 3 beers, last one over an hour prior, they asked me to do field sobriety test which i have balance of a wobbly toddler, told em that too.... they failed me on the field, towed my car(my prelude) and when i got to the cop shop to blow i blew a .040, hr later a .030... too late tho, dmg done, had to drop 200 bones to get my car out of impound.

oh, forgot the best part... they towed my perfectly parked car from a legal parking spot in front of the barracks i was living in at the time.

I got about 8 tickets in the last 2 years the last one was 89 in a 55 the bad thing is that none were in the camaro, all were in my truck, and a radar detector just makes u think u won't get caught.

I think most cops are like that anyway. They like fast, cool cars too. And most of them are young like myself, so it should be that way. But there is always that cop that doesn't go with the flow. Looks like Balthazar found him that night. Also, cops sometimes get tasks sent down to them...like "your job tonight is to find 1 speeder." Something of that nature. And if your just a regular patrolman, you have to find that 1 speeder. Obviously, it does not go exactly how I just said, but you guys get it.

ok... I havent got very far in this thread but thats the dumbest statement I have heard all month.

Are you kidding that laws arent open for interpretation? Really?

every single law (EVERY) law is open to interpretation. Otherwise there would be no manslaughter - just murder. There would be no debate about whether its legal to run a front plate because "impossible" would really mean impossible - but it doesnt. There would never, ever be extenuating circumstances... every law (EVERY) is open to interpretation by the officer enforcing the law.

Excessive speed is one thing as long as it can be proven, but no one can detect the difference between 24mph and 26mph with the naked eye and "chirping" your tires here is called "speed racing" - which is one of the most vaguely written laws I have ever read... including the law in Oregon that states that no colored people are allowed to live within the city limits of McMinnville.

To the OP - I feel your pain, I got popped for 5-over yesterday while driving between a Semi truck/trailer and an open bed Toyota Tacoma that was FULL of furniture and whatnot. Not sure how he got ME as the greater threat to society than the Semi that was doing 15-over (semi's have lower speed limit) and the jethro-mobile behind me, but when I pulled over I knew I was "speeding" along with the flow of traffic so I didnt argue... it sucks but your a magnet for douche-bag police officers.

Bet there are some LEO's on here that could rip you apart ...

FYI ... Manslaughter is murder, just the lesser degree than premeditated or murder in the 1st. It's all bases on intent and malice, that's why laws aren't open to interpretation by laymen ...
