and the reason the import class is gaining momentum is that you can buy these cars a dime a dozen and if you blow something on it, go buy another shell and start again. our cars are worth more out of the box and will stay that way. then again, why spend thousands on a turbo fwd to make yourself half-way fast when you can just as easily drop that money on a v-8 and stomp a hole in the competitions' @$$'s

granted everyone is moving into the "make a cool car for everyone" market

no car is perfect, but this new camaro is close to it.

I have already decided that if I can get one for less than $25k, I dont care whether its a V-6 or an SS (which is the top of the line production camaro)

they are marketing this camaro towards the younger crowd while still giving something to the old schoolers,
however, they know that the younger crowd isnt making $80k a year, hell im 22 and im barely making $50k a year, but then again I also have a lot of extra income. im payin cash for my maro, i might do a payment plan for 12-24 months with a huge down payment, just as a little boost for my credit. but I wont pay a cent over MSRP except maybe for interest. Ive talked to my stealerships down here (a few of which are in my local car clubs and are offering discounts to our club members) and they have told us they will give us the best deal possible.
Right Like I said before, my biggest - and virtually only - complaint about those guesses is the Z28 (or whatever you want on top ) for +$40k. That's insane, come back to reality, and realize that, any foriegn cars sold at that price couldn't HOPE to compete with our car's performance numbers, so that leaves it's competition to Mustang, and Challenger. (poor competetors, , but hey) So 40,000 versus a Mustang is Ludicrous.

Then there's this....remember

Here's the Deal!! I'm Freaking Out right now!! I posted before I watched the whole video...stupid, but about 7:45 minutes into the video, Bob lutz Himself states that the Base V6 should be a little above 20,000, and the top of the line V8 at below, or just above $30,000!!!!! HAHA!! THIS MEANS I CAN GET A Z28 SS!!! YES!!

Okay, sorry. I'm done freaking out...

by no means do I think that they will increase like that.
i honestly think that a base V-6 would be available for less than $20,000.00 (who needs power windows?)
IMO they overprice them in the beginning to make it seem like they are giving a deal

oh, absolutely (on everything)...and "power windows" ?

I'm just really fed up with these magical $40k Camaro's base-priced, and the Shelby GT500 v. Camaro thing. Hell! The Camaro wasn't even out when this last GT500 was created! So how can it compete. Sure the Camaro will compete and win when it comes out, but only because the GT500 is crap!!

I exploded...(sigh) Got to Stop That!!...

Go price a mustang in the trim you want your camaro in, thats your BEST ESTIMATED PRICE until GM releases the price lists.

Anyone who hasnt realized this by now

+1, And add a few hundred, and perhaps a couple thousand to the Top-End. A 400 hp Camaro for 26k +/-?...I don't think so (I hope so ), maybe 28k. After all, this IS a new, better, car...
I have done it a few times now, but it's difficult for my mind to accept, given the 300 to 400 hp difference. But I know it's very close.

Okey, taking diarmadhi's suggestion went to ford and built my mustang. A mustang GT Premium w/auto, Shaker 500 audio system w/8 speakers and GT appearance package brought me up to $28,510. So my guess for my Camaro should be around (correct me if I'm wong) 30/31k? That's in my saftey zone. Lower would be better, much, much better but we'll have to wait an see.

from this site http://auto.howstuffworks.com/2009-chevrolet-camaro.htm they said it should range from 25,000 for the base v6 and 32,000 for the fully loaded convertible. I personally am waiting for the SS or z28 to hit the dealers floors.

First Off, I wouldn't trust "Howstuffworks" for acurate pricing.

But in the article you linked i found this
Quote:

2008 Chevrolet Camaro Prices: Expect Camaro coupes to start around $25,000 with the V-6, with top-of-the-line V-8 convertible versions breaking $40,000 fully equipped
Where did you get 32,000?
