Some people spend $24K+ for some desinger name and all you are going to buy is a Camaro??
All im getting is a Camaro? lol you realize that the base v-6 is going to start around $20k? so we'll be spending an equal amount if not more on my Z28. lol

honestly, I dont think the amount of time really matters, tho nowadays its rare to see couples go 4-5 yrs (at a young age) before marriage. I have been with my girl for a year now, she tells me everyday how much she is glad that im always going to be a part of her life. im 22 and she just turned 24 a couple weeks ago. after 4 mo, she told me she loved me. mind you her previous relationships have been for 2-3 yrs at a time. when you think the time is right, stop and take an outside look at your relationship. the good things and the bad, you have to remember the "outside" perspective so you arent blinded by your feelings.

Wow 22 and you can afford $24k ring! I am just saying my $3600 buys me a $36,000 SS Camaro. You spend $24,000 to get a $30,000 Z28?? The ratio my friend is in my hands not yours. You should be able to buy a nice 911 or even a ford gt.

Dragon...my wife and I dated for about 1 1/2 long distance. She was in Baton Rouge going to LSU while I was here. There were more than a few trips there and her coming here.

She moved in with her parents when she got back into town. But, we did it right. When we knew this was going to be something more, we decided to move in together...see how we "mesh" together. The smartest thing we did was get a new apt. She didn't move into my place. That way, it wasn't like another person infringing on "my space." That's the best advice I can give. Date for a while, get a place together, see how the two of you live together, and go from there.

My g/f is only allowed to live with a male roommate if they're engaged, so we can't move in together until after I propose. I know the ring she wants and it'll be about 8k-11k total. She has small hands so huge diamonds just don't look good on her she says.

911's are too small, and ford gt's arent worth it. if I was going to get a car that Id have to pay off for the next 20yrs, id get a Gallardo. lol

but if your girl will shell out 36k for you only putting down 3600, by all means go ahead, she's looking at a bunch of diff rings, that was just the one we made the arrangement over. cus it wouldn't be fair in my mind to only pay 3600 and have her pay 36k. lol plus she's looking at getting a new car after she finishes her master's program so we're takin her new car, my new camaro, and both our rings and just savin up for all 4.

Simple solution to all this....DO NOT GET MARRIED!!! I have read almost every post in this thread and some of you guys some where along the way have lost your damn minds!! EVERYTHING changes over time (and a very short time). Get your toys before you get married and have a family cause once that happens the only camaro your gonna be buying is the toy ones.

No i'm not married. But all of my friends are and anytime we get to talking about cars and stuff one of them will always say "man i wish i would have gotten that before i got married". I already told my girlfriend that i would rather wait and get married and have my toys now then to get married and buy my toys when i got one foot in the grave lol.

Oh the 911 is to small then get the Porsche Cayenne? What do you do for a living? Parents paying for her school? You every think that when someone looks at your girls ring they will think $24K or just dang thats nice what was it $5K?? People think my wifes set is always more then what I paid.

Well Dark Knight is mostly right. Seems to me first was the family car, then a few houses(sold and bought), then remodels and upgrades to the house, then a kid, and now after 3 years of waiting I get to wait unitl 2009 for my Camaro.

One thing is I have given up debt to have a future. Yes I have mortgage but in spring of 08 I will be all free! Only things to pay are the house, small student loan(2.2%) and the rest goes to COL.

EVERYONE who is married says not to get married.

every one of my married friends save for 1 or 2 (who did it for the money, military wise)

im not big on porsches in the first place, all i see when i see a guy cruising in a porsche is usually "get out of my way, you only bought that cus ur 45, spent more time at ur business than with ur family, and you need a reason to try and look cool...just like the other guy over there who can finally afford one, And is driving 45 on the highway"

I dont care what other people think when they look at her ring, Im not getting it for them, its for her. honestly, she has told her friends that she doesnt care if its a $0.50 ring from a vending machine, as long as its coming from me.

she cares about material items. any woman who says otherwise is lying.
as far as the ring goes, thats something she would like. and like I posted earlier she had said that if she's going to wear a ring the rest of her life, it should cost the same as a car so she and I made a joking agreement that id get her the ring and she'd pay for my camaro.

as far as our relationship now, she would take whatever ring I gave her, but I dont want to "upgrade" later on. now if I get her another one later for an anniversary or something, thats a diff story.

and yes im 22 and we've been together for a year. we've also been thru long term relationships before and we arent getting married anytime soon. its one of those things that if we know we're going to spend the rest of our lives together then when we get married is irrelevant. we're saving up now so that we can both get new cars in a couple years.

im not going to get into a pissing contest with you about my decisions.

as far as getting my toys before I have one foot in the grave, when you look at marriage like that, no wonder.

is it so unbelievable that you could get married to someone who supports you in your passion for cars? my g/f doesnt care for my cars, but she supports me in my endevours.
