You can’t take a Dyno from 3 months ago and compare it today. It’s not apples to apples in any way shape or form.

A Dyno is a tuning tool, and you need to understand a Dyno is a rough estimate of what “ A vehicle” did on that day, with it’s given modifications.

So to compare Jacob’s 1st dyno test to today is wrong and inaccurate information. In all fairness It’s just not a accurate comparison.

Thanks,
David

I don't think he was trying to compare dyno's. The question he was asking is a good question.

It really makes no difference to me as i have a CAI on m car that i am happy with.

We were hoping for a comparison to the stock box just like Doc did when he saw a drop in peak power. The confusion Rod1 and i are having is, the peak engine horsepower numbers are irrelevant here, that if he had a 10 hp drop when he did his original dyno then the 3 hp gain we show now would still indicate a 7 hp drop at peak vs the stock box. I understand that those numbers were on a different dyno or that the weather has a factor. The only common factor here is the V1 tube. If it was losing 10 then the V2 is showing 3 increase over the V1 then are we wrong in our math that a loss of 7 peak still exits?

I think this is awesome and the speed of which this issue has been handled is showing you folks at Airaid take pride in your products and want to be the best option. I think very highly of you and your work but im just as confused about the increases and losses as Rod1 is.

Agreed.... what we need is some one to do all three setups:

1) Stock intake
2) V1
3) V2

All with the hood closed... All on the stock tune (since a majority of the people will not buy a tune).

^AGREED.

While I certainly appreciate devildoc's efforts, unless a test is done on the same dyno on the same day ... the results are speculative at best.

^I'm one of those people.

I can't see possibly throwing away a New Car Warranty on a $25,000+ car with non-approved GM parts/mods, just for 10-20 hp.

If GMPP ever releases their Performance Air Intake, I will try to set up a same day/same dyno test. I'm also considering GMPP's axle-back exhaust, but at $800, it's a hefty price to pay for a non-cat back system.

Stay tuned ...

Adding CAI does NOT VOID YOUR WARRANTY.... There are at least a gazillion threads covering this subject...

Doing it on the same day is fine IF you drive the car between pulls. Otherwise, the ECU doesn't have time to adapt to the new setup and the results will not be representitive.

I understand what all of you are saying and this is what I was hoping for....a digestive communication of what can happen when we put our heads together. My thing is that I already sold my stock box to one of my neighbors, he ruined his trying to do a "special intake", so I didn't have it for this testing. Sorry guys, didn't really think about it in hind sight 20/20.

But yeah it seems that would the perferable test. Either way though prepare for some time to swap out all the boxes and such. It took me an hour for both tubes so with 3 switches I would look at 1.5hr on the dyno. It cost me $125/hr here so maybe something similiar.

As far as the tuning goes, it looks like GM doesn't even monitor our cars to see if they have been flashed or not. Mind you if you kept your custom on going to the dealer than yea probably would see that. But from the GM posting, I'll try to find it, it looks like they monitor the V8s and not the V6s. Probably don't think about it being a problem for the V6.

OK done, will drive for an hour between runs...

I have the stock one installed,

Need V1

Need V2

Sent Davis an email requesting this and no answer??

If someone sends these to me I will spend my $$ on the dyno pulls and document the results...

Win win and I will send the CAI's back....

I'd like to see some dyno results from chozn4service if we can. I believe he has the auto trans and the only mod I see he has listed is the flowmaster axle back. His car would be a good candidate for a stock v1 v2 comparison without any tuning.

I don't buy into that school of thought... The long term fuel trims adjust fairly quickly... AND when you go WOT you are going open loop so the fuel trims are for the most part ignored... some systems ignore them, some do make some do take them into consideration..
