do any of you read more then just the 1st post in a thread? what he is talking about is perfectly acceptable, he is not ruining his car. If you read your owners manual you will see they talk about doing EXACTLY what he did. By mashing the gas quickly and letting off quickly it puts the car into a "Passing"mode so that the cars ready to jump when your passing opportunity opens up.
