It shifts more aggressively all on it's own that in D. Then, after you're comfortable with sport mode, touch one of the paddles. It only shifts one gear at a time. It is WAY fun and you'll get the hang of it quickly. Downshifting is particularly fun. Enjoy your car.
WAY fun for sure especially with a good tranny tune. Bumping up line pressure and eliminating some of the torque management will take away any delay that is noticeable. If you really want to eliminate the delay completely, then you would probably have to modify the tranny itself by customizing the manual valve body (I think that's it). By doing that, you can increase line pressure even more. DCT capabilities then!

I almost did this kit with my 94 Z28. maybe incorporate the paddles into the current buttons.

pull the steering wheel apart, and mold the paddles to the buttons and reassemble.

WOWOWOW 1400 bucks? LOL... Thank you for the info... but no thank you i'm not looking to mod the paddles THAT badly LOL. 1400 can get my CAI, headers, and maybe exhausts lol.

Yes, i was thinking something along the lines of swapping out the Buttons in their place for paddles. What did you exactly mean by "mold the paddles to the buttons"? You mean like... Glue it on or something?=o Know anyone who might just make paddles that I can purchase from? =p

For those that havent tried it yet, remember you do not have to downshift with the Tapshift when you are slowing down to stop. The car does that automatically for you. Of course you can do it if you want to.
I drive with the tapshift only, no D for me.

I think the overall idea that some might be overlooking is, if you can shift your car without ever taking your hands off the steering wheel = win.

i've seen the "'manual' mode" on some cars be the actual shifter...just put it in drive and move it over to the right and there is a plus/minus. i was kinda shocked gm didn't have it like that. the buttons suck. i'd actually use it if it were on the shifter instead. oh well.

Gm has used this set-up, that's how it is on the CTS.

that price is for the whole kit, which includes an actuator for older style transmissions (3 and 4 speed autos). the kit would physically change the gears same as if you were to shift the trans manually. they offer different kits, one with a pushbutton shifter, then another with the remote paddles that still uses the pushbutton shifter.

I was merely suggesting to use something similar to the actual paddles that they offer.

here's just the paddles

Hah... unfortunately you have to move your hands off your wheel when you turn, and that nullifies the "without ever taking your hands off the steering wheel".

I agree, in a straight line it works... your hands at 3 and 9 o'clock and you can up or down shift all you want. But once you start turning the wheel, the buttons go with, and that makes any shifting difficult when your wheel is moving. I'd even like them better if they were just attached to the steering column, and never moved from 3 and 9 o'clock... at least I'd always know where they were.

And personally, I normally drive with my left hand at 12, and my right hand free to change radio stations (or if this was a manual... to shift with). 3 and 9 o'clock are not comfortable positions... especially for anyone who is used to driving a manual.

Imo, I like the tapshift more than the G8 kind of setup. Seriously, I love that it's TAPSHIFT... as I mentioned before, some supercars are only available in a tapshift manual gearbox now... which I found to be really cool for the Camaro to have it. I just want to make the buttons into PADDLES lol...

Thanks CamaroSpike23... the price is still a bit high, but i'll consider it.

I had to buy my wife a Malibu 2LT (3.6l-A6) to get her out of my car, and I must say I like her tapshift better than in my LS. It can be up or downshifted from either side rather than up-right, down-left like the Camaro. The thumb slides over the center spoke and hits the "paddle" to upshift and the forefinger wraps around the back to bump the bottom of the paddle for down.

I test drove a couple of auto Challengers before buying the Camaro and I do like Chryslers version much better though.
