Busted Door Window (due to sun / heat & high humidity)
Hi Y'all,
just wonder if someone of you guys had that issue also?! ![]() My car was exposed the first time for a longer periode to the sun (usually it stays in a garage and has only 400 miles on it - I got it 3 weeks ago) ... as this happend approx. 2pm on July 4th in Tuscaloosa, AL. The window busted towards the outside and was basically just holding together with its tinting foil. The V-shaped gap at the B-pillar was approx. a 1/2 inch wide. The day after (on Monday) I went to my GM dealer and complained about it, but the service manager told me, he never had that issue before, and that I should report it to my insurance which I refused to do.After my conversation with him, I went to the sales manager and told him about my window, and he told me, that they just had 2 other GM vehicles on their lot with the same issue on door windows (without tinting foil). ![]() So, to me it seems like an supplier issue ...they might have an issue in their glas tempering process ![]() I would appreciate any report of similar issues. Thx Martin |

Wow that's the first I've ever heard of a door window breaking from a temperature change.

Wow that is really odd. Never saw that before. Looks to me like maybe the window went up to far or the indexing didn't drop the window down before the door was opened. Heat you say, that's different. Either way I would make them fix it. It wouldn't be bowed out if someone hit it. Has to be some type of defect. Good luck.

doubt the heat broke the window... unless it got over 1200 degrees... my guess is that while the glass was hot, something hit it which is very possible

Looks like an inside job to me! could not help it.Sorry to hear.Seems that the dealer would replace it seeing how there was indication of impact?Every time I open my drivers door I look for the window to index down.Almost if expecting it not to sometime.Need to get over it I guess.I hope the dealer changes their tune and replaces it under warranty.

...this side was parked towards the house wall, the only thing we have there is a flower bush ...and the only thing jumping around are squirls. But we had issues like this at Mercedes with Prototype parts... and after researches it was always a window treatment issue during pruduction of the window. Anyhow, it's now with the dealer, and I hope they fix it nicely without any further damages... |

Odd heat would do that I mean my car is outside from 7:45am until 6:15pm M-F temps ranging from 70 to high 90's in the hot Florida summer heat and humidity (A/C on from 7am to 7:45, and then again from 5:00om to 6:15pm)
