The SRT8 Challengers are already in the lower 30's for a low mileage one in mint condition, even the first year numbered cars. I believe the prices will continue to drop for a while, especially if a new 500 HP version is released... I'm still dreaming! Here is a screen shot from a thread talking about used SRT prices...

In a perfect world, make that: 500+ SRT / 400+ R/T / 300+ SE... That is what it will take to be fully competitive with some current and upcoming Ford & GM offerings... a tall order for a pushrod motor pulling the heaviest of the three competitors. As I said earlier, it depends what a buyer is looking for... performance value for the dollar, performance + style, or performance + style + utility/functionality. I am thoroughly pleased with my SRT... great performance (straight line & around corners), almost perfect styling IMO, and really a full size musclecar (as opposed to a Pony Car size)... with room for 4 real sized adults and a surprisingly roomy trunk for luggage on a road trip. Even though my SRT is not the quickest muscle car of the new musclecar era, it is no slouch... and has an almost unbelievable top end (faster than I will ever take it). With all it's creature comforts, I have no doubt that it could outrun my old Hemi & Six Pack cars... straight line, turning, in every way! If the new 6.4L Hemi has output in the range of 500 HP, I believe it will be more than a match for the current Camaro SS, but GM will of course up the ante. But, IMO, the horsepower wars cannot go on for much longer for several reasons: > Pending fuel economy & emissions standards > Limits of "usable" horsepower for the the average street/road are nearly being meet at 500/550 HP > With the involvement of the federal government in GM & Chrysler, I expect we will be "saved from ourselves" for our safety The big cubic inch N/A engines are having their last stand... better enjoy it! At best, the next round will be fought with Turbo V6 cars... they might be even quicker tho. Just my take on the current musclecar era... I am enjoying the heck out of it!!! ![]() XS |

I sure hope you are wrong. Many people said that in the 70s, yet the big V8s made a big comeback.
