Which BBK LT headers run coolest? Which LT headers are the best?

So far it looks like BBK provides the most affordable Long Tube headers out there and they come in three (3) variations Chrome (mild steel) $699.00 Polished Ceramic (mild steel) $799.00 and 304 Stainless Steel $899.00.

I figured the stainless steel would match the stainless steel exhaust best and would run coolest, but I have seen one owner say it runs hot and that polished ceramic would run cooler.

Does the generation of more heat rob the engine of power? Also will the mild steel not be as durable as the stainless steel.

In the end would the more expensive brands such as ARH 304 Stainless Steel $1224.00 be a better product than BBK?

Does this improve performance? What about the mild steel, is it as good as the stainless?

I just had my ARH longtubes installed. They started off as 304SS, but I had them ceramic coated also. The heat from under the hood has dropped off dramatically. Before, with the stock manifolds, I couldn't touch anything under the hood after the engine got to operating temperature and it heated up my garage like crazy. After the coated headers, I can touch my CAI tube and the engine compartment cools off really fast (which is what you want).

Ceramic coated stainless headers will give you BOTH corrosion and heat resistance. Coated steel headers are OK, but can still rust.

I drive a 2SS, but the principal still applies.

Thanks a lot Avalnch! Is the ceramic coating something you can do your self or do you have to take it to a specialty shop?

I'm looking into getting a set of bbk LT's, a talked to a friend of mine who has done a lot of work on his truck and he said don't even think about going with mild steel, he's seen a ton of cars with mild steel headers and they rust pretty fast according to him. So I guess I'm going the stainless route.
