Why would the IAT have gone up so much on the Airaid test? How long does it take to go from 3k rpms to 7k rpms? Seems extremely odd to me for the temperature to have increased that much that fast and only for that one intake. If anything, I would have expected the K&N IAT temps to be pretty similar to the Airaid. Especially considering the stock IAT actually went *down* during testing.

Thanks for all the hard work putting this together. My car is a daily driver that lives around 2000 to 3500 rpms. I love the extra low end grunt of the Airaid.

Thanks Janetty... it's really interesting to see the results. To me it looks like there isn't a runaway winner. It depends what you are looking for and these tests give us good insight into what will work best for each of our applications. Looks like I have some thinking to do...

Its drawing air from about the same place the injen is well away from engine heat. Due to the MAF bottleneck all they have to work with on the LLT is flow resistance and distance and drawing cooler air. It aint rocket science. Now if someone could develop an OTR to shorten the distance we could prolly get even more power with the reduced distance but I can see it would take a sawzall to get one to fit.

I now have the K&N and I am one happy camper!
I just had time to try it out today and I must say that it's pretty impressive! I feel the extra torque and it's awesome. I cannot beleive that there is so much to gain with this bolt on, it's frankly quite astounding.
I thank Janetty for putting in the effort to pull this all together, albeit bad timing for me as I had already just ordered my K&N and I don't think I would have cancelled my order in lieu of these test results. I drive my car all year round and we have major snow and large wet seasons in Montreal, Quebec. The Ingen just would not work for my for this reason. I will share some pix and a video for you all that I took today. I will post more soon enough, but here is a cold engine start and a couple of "gooses" of the gas pedal. You can rally hear the vacuum pulling in that air and it really does make noise that you can hear, bot when you drive from in the car and from a bystanders point of view. One word=wow. eB

I will try and asnwer as many questions as I can.
A Hole in the bottom of the Airaid box would eliminate the IAT temp rise during acceleration, I have already spoken to Airaid on this, now it is up to them or Us and a Hole saw LOL. Fuel Trims are the final adjustment to the injector pulse width calculation. The MAF measures the amount of air coming in to the engine, the computer calculates the injector pulse width, the O2 sensor check the Air fuel ratio and the computer then makes Fuel trim adjustments. Short Term fuel trims are immediate. Long Term fuel trims are Learned and stored in the computer. Once the short terms exceed a certain number a certain number of times it gets stored in the Long terms then the short terms can continue Immediate adjustments. Short terms typically stay + or - 3% once the Long terms have settled in. I don't think Hydrolocking is as much of a concern as I am reading here. You Must Fully submerse the whole filter in water with the engine running. In other words you have to drive in to a Lake, in that case I don't think you would be worried about hydrolocking. Ted.
