Good luck with your NHRA career Speed Racer.

Thanks for the encouragment dude. I do wonder where you come up with me having a muffler delete system? Maybe you shoud read the thread that you adivsed me to "Man Up" for.

Maybellene should be somewhere low to mid 600's, I need to dyno again... But I have a slowpoke Camaro problem... the Camaro is in need of twin snails....badly... I hate having such a pretty car that can't quite defend herself properly on the street...

I am so glad I found this post. I went through the same issues with drone in my Challenger. It made my ears hurt, my wife complained non-stop, and some friends did not like riding in the car. I went through several versions of the frankenstein exhaust trying to fix the drong until I finally couldn't take it anymore. I bought the Corsa Sport used off a guy in Challengertalk and it was the best decision I could have ever made. I see now that muffler delete isn't a gamble I am willing to take so I will now need to save my pennies for the Corsa for my Camaro. Thanks for saving me from re-living that nightmare!

Should have deleted the resonators after the axle back. I have no idea of this drone people speak of. I have a catback flowmaster with CAI, and I hear nothing of the sort. Yes it is a louder exhaust if you dont want loud then just stay with stock.

I replaced the stock mufflers with magnaflow bullets and it sounds great. There is no drone cruising at any speed unless under load. It is not a whole lot louder than stock but is deeper and clean sounding. I spent 286 out the door. Part numbers are 10416 and 14416 depending on the finish.

I have the slightly larger resonated Xpipe by Dynomax. It barely fits into the slot where the stock resonator because its kinda wide...wider than the magnaflow variation. But since it was a squeeze, I used hushmat (underhood/high heat type) and wrapped the heat-shield that guards the driveshaft. I did this because I know with a pull on the engine it might squeeze and touch the heat-shield and rattle like crazy. I then had custom brackets welded to kinda hold the thing in place...i mean it was kinda loud inside but not that bad at all...I figured the hushmat was doing something...but today I removed the custom brackets...because i could feel the xpipe rubbing and vibrating at certain RPMs and I didnt like it...those brackets were the worse thing I did because they didnt allow any play, and basically holding it up into the slot even more...after going home, wow the difference inside the cab was significant - I didnt have drone really but I was creating my own small nascence.

So food for thought...if you have an Xpipe, or at least a resonated one (muffler type) I would try hushmating the area like I did and see if your drone level/cabin noise decreases.

ANY car with the resonator deleted and high performance mufflers or no mufflers at all will be more noticable on the inside of the car. in fact the reason the stock exhaust is so quiet is because you can't hear it on the inside... any louder and you will get your opinion on drone. Corsa has done a good job to keep the drone at a minimum while cruising with the way their mufflers are designed.

i'm sick of people whining about "drone"

if you want it to be loud on the outside, but silent on the inside, then either turn your radio on to 15 or above and jam to some rock-n-roll, or go and get some hushmat laid down underneath the carpet and in the trunk, so you can play your classical music as if you were being driven in a rolls-royce.

personally, i have LT headers, high flow cats, x-pipe, and muffler delete... the only time i hear the exhaust is when i accelerate, which is when you WANT to hear it. i took an 900 mile round-trip this weekend in my car, average speed was 75, radio on 15 listening to XM Radio station, Octane, and i couldn't hear my exhaust... in fact i felt like i was going to fall asleep part of the way.
I with u on this all the way. Drone this and drone that! My SLP loudmouth is actually fairly quiet until u romp on it, with lil drone. It seems like some guys just need to keep em stock

Go Corsa. No drone at all. It costs more money but well worth it.
