Why.....has a Z28 thread degraded into an SRT thread?

......that's blasphemy of biblical proportions!!!!

I agree, but the performance of the Mustang, Camaro and Challenger are pretty similar. Yes one may be a few ticks faster, or one feels a little heavier, all in all they are similar for sure. For most people it is about looks and sound. Few people race regularly and hopefully nobody is street racing. All three V8's sound damn good. It's just awesome that we have a choice of all three fine cars.

Cant argue your points. Chally is just a tad bit big for my tastes. Makes a 70 Challenger look small. And a big +1 on the street racing. I do my racing on the road courses

The challenger looks awesome i mean really if the SRT8 wasnt a 45k car I would probably have one. And yeah it might be slower and all but really its not like were talking night and day with this car, maybe at the track, but on the road and for most of us its really close.

I truly beleive this car isnt a going to be a monster, i think its going to be a bulked up SS. I think your going to get something that has 500-525 HP some different badges, wheels, and maybe a few interior changes. I think the car will round out between 37-41k. Think about the selling point if the car cost under 40k say 39k. First off it beats the mustang GT and if car comes rated at 525HP, with a few extra mods youll be right at the GT500. I just dont think beating the GT500 is all to important to that many people.
What? Thats probably the most important thing to potential Z28 buyers, as well as the rest of the Camaro enthusiasts. Beating the GT is the job os the SS, and currently it doesn't quite do the job.

Look at the sales of these muscle cars that were 40+ ie challenger doesnt sell jack, the GT500 doesnt sell jack either. These cars specially the GT500 are non factors in the big scheme of competition between these companies. To tell you the truth the V6 is where the money is at in the long run. When they come out with the Z-28 specially if it cost 50 grand and thats what its going to be if its going to beat or match the GT500, they will sell the first year due to newness like the challenger did, then you will see a drop off the next year to barely nothing.
The LS/LT and the SS are meant to be built and sold at a rate of tens of thousands per year. The Z28 isn't. Its supposed to be special. And if it isn't at least competitive with the GT500, there will be a lot less interest in it.

Right now what you think is more important to GM bragging rights? Althought that does bring positive things, or actually selling cars and making money. Does GM no good right now to make 15,000 cars and break even on them.
Bragging rights are crucial to sports cars/muscle cars/pony cars. Thats why Ford rated their V6 at 305 hp, and GM followed up with a newly certified V6 at 312 hp. And as others have said, having a halo model can get more sales for lesser ones. Plus, I'm pretty sure they'd still make a healthy amount of money on each 550+ hp, $50k, GT500 beating Z28 sold.

Heres the deal with this I have an SS am Im concerned with is that it beats the Mustang GT and 85% of cars out there. THe 500 is in a different class but theres so few of them that I really dont care. Sure its a faster car but they also spent 60% more on it. Most people on here are die hard gear heads and want to beat the 500, but the people on this thread probably represent such a small portion of all camaro owners out there. The average guy is concerned with having one of the fastest cars around and not breaking the bank doing it. The 500 is ugly this year anyways.

... there isn't a large portion of all camaro owners that would buy the Z28... that is why it is limited production. The average guy doesn't give a crap about being fast if we are being literal. The average Camaro owner is different.

There is a reason GT500's are limited to 5500 a year... not alot of people want them but still, selling 5500 $55k monsters is pretty awesome.

You are not seeing the big picture. You are too blinded by the fact you wouldn't buy one to consider who would.

Props on beating a SS with a RT. But performance wise its the SRT thats close to to the SS. Not the RT. Looking at your 1/4 mile trap speed shows that.

I bet the new Z28 will sell for at least if not more than $50,000.00.
