"manual guy thinking auto"?? haha I think the whole point of getting the manual is the feel and fun of it. I have the m6 and never once have I thought about wanting the auto instead. And besides, all the old guys with the automatic ss get jealous when the 22 yr old chick with the m6 shows up. Sorry dudes I dont have a wife that wants to be able to drive my car too

I drove a stick for almost ten years when I lived in the UK, because that's just what they tend to do, most cars there are stick. So it's not like I don't know how. I've driven the V6 and V8 Camaro, and just bought a 2011 2LT. Sorry, but I can see no point in the stick, unless you are just one of those purists who think there is something manly about moving a gear leaver around. The V8 Camaro is a monster, with sub 5 second 0-60. In sport mode both the V6 and V8 will quickly get you a speeding ticket. And you've still go the paddle shift option too. For me I won't even consider a stick with such advanced autos around. But were I on the fence, I think the decider would be remote start. If you live anywhere that gets quite hot or cold, it is wonderful to be able to start the car a minute or few before you intend to get in the car. The A/C or heater can get things acceptable by the time you get in it. Soon there will be an iPhone app that will even allow you to start your car without being able to see it. And it's only a matter of time before that same feature becomes available for other smart phones or even a web site. All of those features are lost with a manual. If an automatic V8 Camaro isn't fast enough for you, then I respectfully suggest you need to buy a sports car, not a big American muscle car. |

Not sure what you are referring to. I think you are talking about the torque which does peak earlier in the A6 4300. I dont know if anyone has mentioned this but I keep seeing the A6 guys talking about getting it tuned and it's a different beast. If you are going to the trouble of a tune then cant they just tune out the rev limiter in the M6? Also if you look at the dyno charts your max torque and HP all occur before you hit the rev limiter. If you want to keep in the highest performance range you would want to shift before 6500 anyway. You are just asking for valve float running it that high.

Now that is a valid point! all the rest of this is really just a bunch of smack talk that is fun to read and take part in. You would think that they could make the manual smart enough to know that it is in neutral with the parking brake on though! Summer in Florida and a black interior can get brutal.

Drove both at the lot (2010's) and the M6 sounded better, had more torque and get-off, felt like I was driving a camaro. I drove the auto first and was unimpressed as I had just driven the 2011 5.0 auto 'Stang which bitch-slapped the L99, IMO - and you couldn't give me a stang. Then I drove the M6 with ZERO intention of getting a manual tranny ( I live and work in L.A.; the stop and go, rubber necking, 10 mph on the freeway capital of the planet). After 5 mins in the M6 car I was hooked. I bought the 2011 2SS/RS M6 and you can't wipe the smile of my face

No one seems to have a Manual SS.
Isn't the 6m 2ss the most commonly picked option? |

I have an idea on how not to hit the limiter so quickly. Take out the motor and put in a motorcycle motor. It will rev up slower because it has less power to move the car, and motorcycles rev a lot higher.
What type of complaint is hitting the rev limit so quickly? That is showing you it has a lot of power to get the car up there! Any fast car hits the rev limit quickly. And the paddle shifters are useless. There isn’t a point for them. If you like manuals better then get a manual. You will enjoy it more. |

Yes, this is 100% right, I got my car tuned and believe me, it is a totally different car!!! From 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd it scraches the tires!!! I stick to the AT correctly tuned.
