And then, as you approach a stop light and start shifting down through the gears and hearing the engine rev up each time...music!

It was great last Saturday, too! I took the car to Harris Hill Road course in San Marcos, TX for some closed course driving. Was able to run the entire circuit in M2 and M3...talk about instantaneous response! That whole "button lag" thing everyone talks about takes no longer than it used to take me to push in the clutch pedal on my old 6-speed Camaro...it's just as quick, maybe quicker, actually...it's all about getting ahead of it.

Tap shift kinda grows on you...and you can't get it off!
Awesome! Just clearing something up for everyone. The "lag" anyone notices isn't part of the actual shift, just a delayed response. During any kind of lag the car is STILL accelerating. When it shifts it shifts quickly.

Now, add a tranny tune into the equation and you can have almost instantaneous shifts with shift times down to ~.18 seconds. CONSISTENT shifts.

You are correct there is no delayed shifting just what I call mushy shifts. A lot of us older guy's are used to trans. like the turbo 400 when it shifted you felt it.

Just remember the harder it shifts the more driveline shock you have also, so the potential for damaging your drivetrain is greater.. so in a way it is also designed to minimize driveline shock and reducing possible damage during hard driving....

That can be solved with a little torque management deduction and line pressure increase. It would be good to not max out both.

I agree I wish it had the option of using the gear shifter too. My Mazda rx8 had paddle shifters on the steering wheel AND the option on the gear shifter. Either way I still love this car better haha!

Ditto on my Audi.... Loved and used the gear shifter mode all the time, never touched the paddle shifters on the steering wheel....

Wish the Camaro had gear shift option as if it did, I probably use it all the time..... As it stands now, I never use the paddle shifters on the Camaro...

i like it....but in sport mode i chirp 2nd and third

the more i use them the better i get at anticipating the delay. and setting my hands over the appropiate tap in turns.

just to keep it involving and have that sweet headers + 3 in exhaust. sound in th e sweet spot!

There is a shifter with the tap buttons, I purchased off of ebay and that gentlemen is on this web site. The shifter was very easy to install was able to do without instructions(over the phone) as he had not printed them out yet. He has now a full installation sheet. The shifter works awesome as I am able to shift with my right thumb in a perfectly normal position. Don't get alarmed and think that it is too bulky that is just the picture is up close, fits your hand just like a pistol grip without the grooves. Here is his link.
